Wise NCAAF bettors know that with 2 games remaining in the regular season, each of these teams has much to play for and each of these teams has their motivation tonight.

N. Illinois (-3) vs. Ohio 8:00 ET ESPNU
With 2 games remaining in the regular season, each of these teams has much to play for. Though Ohio has no hope of capturing the Eastern division crown, they are still fully motivated knowing that, at 5-5 SU, a potential Bowl bid awaits should they succeed tonight and in their closing game at Miami, OH next week.  For N. Illinois, the 27-24 home win vs. Toledo last week puts them in the driver seat for the Mid-American Western division crown.  There is still a contest against W. Michigan next week with whom they are tied at 1 loss apiece.  Toledo remains in the running, having beaten Western but losing to Northern.

Last week, Ohio kept their season alive with a 37-14 home field victory vs. Buffalo. The Bobcats are now 4-1 SU, 3-2 ATS on their home field this season, losing to Bowling Green 31-13.  Scoring is a bit down for the Bobcats this season, as under 10thyear HC Solich, Ohio has averaged 27 PPG or more the previous 4 seasons.  This year, Ohio averages just 21 PPG on only 5.3 YP play.  That will be a bit of an issue as they face perennial champion, N. Illinois, tonight.

The Huskies are a team who has improved consistently all season. They are the favorites on College Football betting odds tonight.  Under 2nd year HC Carey, the defense has stayed consistent at 25 PPG from last season.  The big challenge for the Huskies was to find an offensive rhythm.  Behind veteran QB Lynch in recent seasons, they averaged 39 PPG since 2011.  As the year has progressed, so has the Huskies’ offense.  And it is no surprise that this veteran team has performed with aplomb on the road.  There was the lone hiccup when they played Arkansas in their 3rdconsecutive road game in mid-September.  Other than that, the Huskies have gone 4-0 SU on the road with victories of 8 at Northwestern, 14 at UNLV, 11 at E. Michigan and 14 at Ball St.  Just such performance could be expected from a team who has played for the league title in each of the last 4 seasons.  After 10 games, the 8-2 SU Huskies have now ascended to STEAMROLLER status.  The ground game is averaging 262/5.1 in leading an offense that scores 32 PPG.

Each of these teams has their motivation tonight.  But, the pedigree of this Husky is too much to overlook in a virtual win situation.  Riding a 4 game winning streak, playing their best ball of the season, not having lost more than 1 league game in 4 years and knowing the Title is theirs for the taking are all reasons why N. Illinois gets this victory tonight, and catches this handicapper's attention for his College Football pick.
