The Broncos head to Virginia to take on the Cavaliers, with Oregon State taking on Stanford in the nightcap. What routes should we take with our college football picks?

Boise State Broncos vs. Virginia Cavaliers
This first matchup is widely expected to be much more competitive than the game that follows. If we look over the College Football Odds, we see the Broncos are small two-point favorites despite being on the road on this occasion. Meanwhile, the O/U is trading at 47.5 points.

Since they're favored, we'll start the breakdown with the Broncos, who have won two of their first three games this season. They beat Washington 16-13 in their opener, lost to BYU 35-24 on the road and then rebounded with a 52-0 thumping of Idaho State at home last week. The passing game has been struggling for Boisa State so far, but fortunately the rushing attack has been formidable, having already compiled 593 yards and 10 rushing scores through three games.

As for the Cavaliers, they've endured a tough schedule already early on, having already played both UCLA and Notre Dame, two ranked opponents. Virginia fell to UCLA 34-16 on the road and then barely lost to the Fighting Irish 34-27 at home in the second week of the season. The Cavaliers got on the board last weekend though, beating William & Mary 35-29. Matt Johns has been solid at the quarterback spot, throwing for 790 yards with a 6:3 TD:INT ratio, with both Canaan Severin and Taquan Mizzell having combined for 497 receiving yards already.

So what's the play here? Boise State just tore it up last week, but that was against weak competition and it's going to be much, much tougher versus Virginia on the road tonight.

With our College Football Picks, we're going to be adding the Cavaliers, as they're already battled-tested this season and should be ready for the challenge that the Broncos present. Back Virginia.

College Football Pick: Virginia Cavaliers +2

Stanford Cardinal vs. Oregon State Beavers
Fresh off a huge win over USC, the Cardinal will be high on confidence heading into a road battle with Oregon State. Current NCAA football odds show Stanford favored by 15 points at a lot of the top sportsbooks.

Beating a team as talented as the Trojans is always a great achievement, but to do so on the road makes it all the much sweeter for Stanford. After a loss to Northwestern in the team's opener, the Cardinal have responded brilliantly, crushing UCF and then notching what will surely be one of their best wins all season. Kevin Hogan has been leading the offense with gusto, throwing five touchdowns against one interception, while Christian McCaffrey has run for 239 yards, with Remound Wright and Barry Sanders combined for four rushing scores themselves. Meanwhile, four different receivers have recorded at least 100 receiving yards on the season so far.

Oregon State is also 2-1 on the year, but haven't exactly faced the toughest of competition. In their one difficult matchup, the Beavers were smoked by Michigan, which doesn't bode well for this visit of Stanford.

Owning the home-field advantage this evening will be a boost, but the Cardinal are the more talented team in every way and should prove so here. Their balance on both sides of the ball should prove too much for Seth Collins and company.

So while it's a lot of points to lay on the College Football Odds board, we think Stanford is a different class and will show it tonight. We'll be siding with the Cardinal to win big and cover this large number on the road.

College Football Pick: Stanford Cardinal -15
