It’s small slate in NCAAF action Wednesday night, but we see opportunities on two games in the MAC and look to keep cashing with our college football picks!

Kent State (2-7 SU, 3-6 ATS) at Western Michigan (5-4 SU, 3-6 ATS)
  • Western Michigan is 1-4 ATS in their last five Wednesday games.
  • Western Michigan is 2-6 ATS in their last eight games as a favorite.
  • Western Michigan is 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a favorite of 10.5 or greater.
  • Kent State is 3-0 ATS over their last three seasons as an underdog of 21.5 to 31 points.
  • Kent State is 4-2 ATS over their last three seasons as a road underdog of 21.5 or more points.

Let’s be clear, Kent State is not a good team nor will it win this game. However, the college football odds makers are giving them over a three-touchdown head start and that will be enough to cover the number. Although it is true that Kent State has a whole host of problems, Western Michigan has a serious quarterback problem. Regular starter Jon Wassink is out for the year and his understudy, freshman Reece Goddard, had that deer-in-the-headlights look last week in the Broncos’ 35-28 loss to Central Michigan. Goddard was 6-of-18 for just 42 yards and one interception.

Yes, the Broncos rushing attack is fierce, but the Golden Flashes defense will be able to isolate on the run because Western Michigan won’t be allowing its freshman QB many opportunities to execute the pass. The spread is just too high in a game that will see the clock tick with loads of rushing but a minimal amount of passing. Add Kent State to your college football picks.

Eastern Michigan (3-6 SU, 7-2 ATS) at Central Michigan (5-4 SU, 4-5 ATS)
  • Central Michigan is 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games.
  • Central Michigan is 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games as a home underdog.
  • Central Michigan is 1-5 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win.
  • Eastern Michigan is 10-4 ATS in their last 14 conference games.
  • Eastern Michigan is 11-2 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
  • Eastern Michigan is 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 road games.

There isn’t much separating these two MAC rivals as indicated by the line, but their records tell a different story. Despite Central Michigan’s 5-4 mark, they will soon fall to .500 after this one is through. The Eagles desperately needed a convincing victory and they got it last week with a 56-14 thrashing of Ball State. Eastern Michigan has covered five of their last six contests, and its 30th ranked passing attack coupled with a stout defensive unit, tied for 29th in the nation allowing just 20.3 PPG, will be more than enough to tip the scales in favor of the visitors.
