There are three NCAAF games on Wednesday night, and they all belong to the Mid-American Conference. Let’s review the college football odds and give opinions on two sides that are poised to cash.

Eastern Michigan (3-7 SU, 7-3 ATS) at Miami Ohio (4-6 SU, 2-8 ATS)
  • Miami Ohio is 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS loss.
  • Miami Ohio is 1-7 ATS in their last eight games as a favorite.
  • Miami Ohio is 1-4 ATS in their last five games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game.
  • Eastern Michigan is 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a straight up loss.
  • Eastern Michigan is 6-0 ATS in their last six games following an ATS loss.
  • Eastern Michigan is 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 road games.

The casual fan sees this Eastern Michigan team and notes that it has dropped six of their last seven, but those who have backed the Eagles in their college football picks understand that this team has covered the number in five of those seven contests. If you have been betting Eastern Michigan this season, you’re making money as it is currently 7-3 ATS and that’s the only stat we need to know. However, the college football odds makers are counting on short-term memories as the Eagles lost last week 42-30 to Central Michigan as 1½-point road favorites, while Miami Ohio was busy beating Akron 24-14 yet failed to cover the 12-point impost.

While it is true the RedHawks have gone 2-0 straight up and ATS vs. the Eagles over the last two seasons, this matchup is different. Eastern Michigan’s record could be vastly different had a few bounces gone its way and some untimely penalties were erased. The only category in which Miami Ohio owns an advantage is in the rushing game (148.5 vs. 110.4 yards per game), but passing yards, points scored and points allowed all belongs in favor of the visitors. Watch for a big rebound game from the Eagles and grab the points on the highway.

Western Michigan (6-4 SU, 4-6 ATS) at Northern Illinois (7-3, 6-4 ATS)
  • Northern Illinois is 6-2 ATS in their last eight Wednesday games.
  • Northern Illinois is 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 games in November.
  • Northern Illinois is 13-5-2 ATS in their last 20 games following a straight up win of more than 20 points.
  • Western Michigan is 1-4 ATS in their last five games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.
  • Western Michigan is 0-4 ATS in their last four games following an ATS win.
  • Western Michigan is 1-4 ATS in their last five games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.

This game boils down to Western Michigan’s ability to run against a stout Northern Illinois defense. As a matter of fact, it just so happens that the Huskies are uniquely equipped to handle any rushing attack, including the No. 13 ranked rushing yards per game unit of the Broncos. NIU owns the 8th ranked rushing defense, allowing just 109.8 yards per game.

When you couple that with the Huskies’ 217.3 passing yards per game against a Broncos’ defense that allows an average of 27.6 points per game, then you have one team moving the chains through the air while the other keys almost exclusively on the ground attack because Western Michigan’s starting QB Jon Wassink is sidelined with a collarbone injury. Lay the points here.
