The Connecticut Huskies are happy to welcome in the SMU Mustangs (0-11) to Rentschler Field as this appears to be an automatic win for UConn (2-9), who is not much better. This is the type of game where only the bettors or players family members will be watching. See who we like as our betting pick.

Kickoff is scheduled at 12 pm ET on Saturday at Rentschler Field in Storrs, Connecticut. This game can be seen on the CBS Sports Network.

According most college football odds, the Huskies are a 12 point betting favorite and the total for the game is listed at 45. This will be the one and only time that the bettor sees a 2-9 UConn team as a double-digit favorite at any time during the season.

How Bad Are They?
You might get a good high school team to be competitive against the SMU Mustangs who average less than 10 points per game and allow 34.4 points per game. SMU has tried various quarterbacks to "right the ship" and in this game, Matt Davis will attempt to get SMU that elusive 1st win of the season.

Davis is coming off of a fairly productive, mistake-free game in a loss to Houston in which he threw for 145 yards, 1 touchdown and no interceptions. Davis also rushed for 70 yards. I look for Davis to provide a similar performance against the Huskies, but he'll need to avoid mistakes for the Mustangs to be competitive.

This is a Mustangs team that is so bad that their quarterback is the leading rusher on the team. The next leading rusher is Prescott Line with 166 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 2.9 yards per carry. Melvin Gordon of the Wisconsin Badgers could rush for 166 yards in a half. When making your college football picks keep in mind that the Mustangs are simply an awful football team.

The receiving core isn't much better as they possess just 5 touchdowns on the season. Wide receiver, Der'rikk Thompson has actually had a respectable season at 512 yards, but he hasn't caught a pass in his last 2 games. This is a team that has Deion Sanders Jr. on the roster, but clearly this Sanders isn't as good as his hall of fame father.

The Lesser of Two Evils
The Connecticut Huskies aren't much better than the Mustangs as they've allowed 30 points on the season while managing just 15 points offensively. Connecticut will look for 2nd string quarterback Tim Boyle to beat up on a weak SMU defense. Boyle hasn't been great, but showed some improvement last week against Memphis as he threw for 160 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.

Boyle has the advantage of having better targets to throw to with the trio of Geremy Davis (499 yards, 3 TD), Deshon Foxx (384 yards,1 TD), and Noel Thomas (305 yards, 4 TD). In the 41-10 loss to Memphis, Foxx was the only one of the bunch to not produce, we might see bigger numbers in this game from Connecticut than we've seen all season long.

Look for freshman, Ron Johnson, to grind out a good amount of production on the ground as he had 20 rushes last week and expect Connecticut to finish off a very disappointing season with an easy victory over possibly the worst team in college football.

There's nothing to think about here at all. SMU is an atrocious football team and that's being generous. The product that they put on the field is an embarrassment to the university.
