The weather has been fairly good this season but that will all change this Saturday. We have isolated several games where wet weather could change the course of the games and your college football picks.

12:00 PM ET Rutgers vs. Indiana

The hometown Hoosiers have been bumped only slightly from 10 ½ to 11-point favorites over their visitors from New Jersey. However, a quick glance at the total tells a different tale. The over/under has tumbled from an opener of 50 all the way down to 45 ½ in virtually all of the major online sportsbooks. The 70 percent chance of rain showers with wind gusts up to 22 miles per hour will undoubtedly slow the pace and cause the pigskin to do unusual things in flight. Keep your eyes posted on the forecast and the college football odds in this one.

12:00 PM ET Minnesota vs. Northwestern

Although the possibility of rain showers is only 60 percent in this matchup versus the 70 percent chance of rain in the Indiana game, it should be noted that the wind will be whipping from the northwest at 20-30 miles per hour and that will wreak havoc not only on the passing attacks but on the punters and field goal kickers as well. With that in mind, it’s not surprising that this total has also plummeted from an opening number of 47 to a bottom of 40 ½ at most of the top online sportsbooks. If you are inclined to take the best of the bad numbers and go low, then click on over to Bovada holding firm at 41 as of this writing.

3:30 PM ET Illinois vs. Ohio State

The ABC cameramen and women better get their handkerchiefs ready to wipe their lenses because this nationally televised contest is scheduled to be wet and nasty. Overcast skies and a 70 percent chance of rain have not dampened the total quite as much as we would have anticipated. The total has dropped from its opening line of 57 but you can get still get a 54 at Bovada and YouWager to include in your college football picks. Most of the other sportsbooks are dealing 53 ½ for those inclined to go high in this matchup of No. 8 Ohio State against their Big Ten rivals and conference cellar dwellers from Illinois.

4:00 PM ET Nebraska vs. Penn State & 7:00 PM ET LSU vs. Tennessee

Like the other games previously mentioned, these matchups also forecast a 70 percent chance of rain with gusty winds of 15-25 miles per hour at Penn State and a calmer 11-16 mph in Tennessee. However, unlike those other games, these totals have stood fairly firm with an opener of 56 ½ in the Penn State game that has only dropped a hook to 56 in most shops and an opening total of 46 in the Tigers’ meeting with the Volunteers now dipping just a half-point as well to 45 ½. If the rains do come and the winds begin to blow these contests could represent a pair of golden opportunities to go low before the totals fall.
