The 2021 Heisman Trophy race is nearing its conclusion with Alabama QB Bryce Young still atop the board. We look at the true contenders and make our best Heisman Trophy picks.

The Heisman Trophy odds underwent a shakeup following Rivalry Week. While Young is the favorite at the top legal US sportsbooks, several value plays remain.

We dive into the college football futures odds with our Heisman Trophy picks entering Week 14 (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook).

Heisman Trophy Picks: Favorite

Alabama QB Bryce Young (-200)

Young had a rollercoaster of a day against the Auburn Tigers on Saturday. Before the game, he was +150 to win the Heisman at BetMGM. With Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud losing to the Michigan Wolverines, Young moved to -200 before the Iron Bowl started.

With 24 seconds left in the Alabama-Auburn game, he was +110 to win the Heisman. The 28-yard touchdown pass to WR Ja'Corey Brooks completely saved his Heisman chances. A loss and a stat line of 0 touchdowns and 1 interception with Alabama as a 20.5-point favorite, would have sealed his fate in this market.

Heisman Trophy Picks: Best Value

Pittsburgh QB Kenny Pickett (+1600)

Pickett has done nothing but re-write the record books for the ACC and the Pittsburgh Panthers this season. He became the only ACC quarterback to throw for 40 touchdowns and 4,000-plus yards in a regular season, and he also passed Dan Marino for the most touchdown passes in a single season in school history.

Pickett has more passing yards, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns than both Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud. He is also tied with Young with 40 TD passes. Not to mention, Pickett has led the Panthers to a 10-2 record and a berth in the ACC Championship game.

His statistics are better than Stroud and Young, but his Heisman Trophy odds remain more profitable.

Don't Buy the Hype

Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud (+425)

Stroud has had a tremendous freshman season for the Buckeyes but the narrative around his Heisman campaign will end up hurting him. A lot has been made about the wide recievers at Ohio State and how elite they are.

I think this leaves doubt in the minds of voters as to whether Stroud is the true Heisman candidate or he is just surrounded by elite playmakers. This same narrative has negatively impacted former Alabama QBs Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones’ Heisman chances in the past.

On the Move

Michigan DE Aidan Hutchinson (+1500)

Nobody moved up the odds board faster than Hutchinson this weekend, after his dominating performance against Ohio State. His odds climbed to as short as +800 at DraftKings Sportsbook but have since settled at 15/1.

He set the school record for most sacks in a season with 13, but it will be difficult to give the Heisman to a defensive player who isn’t even a finalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award for the top defensive player in college football.

Heisman Trophy Picks: Long shot

Georgia DE Jordan Davis (+6000)

In a murky Heisman market where nobody has managed to take control the whole season, maybe the voters will lean toward the best player on the best team.

Davis and the Georgia defense have been dominating this season. The last primarily defensive player to win the Heisman was Charles Woodson in 1997. Michigan’s defense that season gave up 9.5 points per game and Georgia is averaging 6.92 points against per game this season.

Davis makes for the best value among our 2021 Heisman Trophy picks.
