The San Diego Aztecs will visit the UNLV Rebels at Sam Boyd Stadium, let's check the college football odds first, so you don't make a selection without reading this article.

Kickoff is set for Saturday, November 21st at 10:30 p.m. EST at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to 5Dimes, the Aztecs are a 16 point road favorite on the college football odds and the total for the game is listed at 54. This game isn't a matter of who wins, it's a matter of can San Diego State cover the spread and the prospects look good.

During their 6 game winning streak, the Aztecs defense has been dominant as San Diego State has outscored their opponents, 206-62. That's as sound as it gets when handing out beatings to the opposition.

Donnel Pumphrey Returns Home
While the Aztecs have a very reliable passing game that's virtually mistake-free, led by quarterback, Maxwell Smith (1378 yards, 12 TD, 2 INT), running back, Donnel Pumphrey is the star on this squad aside from their defense.

Pumphrey is a double threat that can run the ball and catch passes out of the backfield. For the season, Pumphrey has amassed a total of 1496 all-purpose yards to go along with 14 TD's. Most of Pumphrey's work is done on the ground as he's rushed for 1171 yards and 12 TD's, but he's also San Diego State's 2nd leading receiver. Pumphrey is a native of Las Vegas, Nevada and a return home usually sparks huge outputs from stars. Look for Pumphrey to carry this team on his back with a monster game.

Nose For the Goaline
Although he doesn't get a lot thrown his way, San Diego State's leading receiver, Mikah Holder, has been finding his way into the endzone lately. In his last 3 games, Holder has caught just 6 passes, but 3 of them going for touchdowns. He's another player to focus on in what should be a beating courtesy of the Aztecs.

Paying the Price
I don't want to leave out San Diego State's 2nd leading rusher, Chase Price, Price has been on fire as of late as he's ran for a touchdown in each of his last 4 games and had a 152 yard 2 TD performance in a 38-3 victory over Wyoming. That said, the star that comes home usually get's the glory and I'm leaning towards Pumphrey. Nonetheless, this is an impressive Aztecs rushing attack.

This game will come down to San Diego State's defense vs. UNLV's offense. The Aztecs defense allows just 17.1 points per game and under 300 yards and the Rebels offense is also very capable of scoring. Their Achilees Heel is their defense which allows over 30 points per game and nearly 500 yards of offense.

DeVonte Boyd
Where UNLV's offense is concerned, they do everything as a collective team; there are no stars as 6 different runners have found their way into the endzone and 6 different receivers have also found their way for 6 points. One player that I'll point out is DeVonte Boyd. This wide receiver caught for nearly 1000 yards last season and is on his way to a similar year this year. Boyd has 3 consecutive 100 yard games receiving. He will be hard-pressed to have a fourth against this Aztecs defense. Play Aztecs on your college football picks.
