Emerging US sports betting provider Wynn Resorts along with their mobile wing WynnBet and the NBA's Detroit Pistons have come together on the latest sports team/betting company partnership. It is a multi-year, mutually beneficial deal that further exposes the betting brand in an exploding Michigan market and puts the Pistons on a level playing field with a host of North American pro teams that have jumped on board the partnership bandwagon as of late.

WynnBet has been on a tear with regard to their sports betting reach in the US. They are currently available in New Jersey, Colorado, and Michigan and has gained the right to pursue opportunities in Indiana, Iowa, Massachusetts, Nevada, Ohio, Tennessee and potentially Virginia.

The Pistons deal is the second such partnership deal WynnBet has signed with an NBA team in the last six-weeks and marks the second official sports betting merger between betting providers and the Pistons, after PointsBet announce a similar agreement in January.

The Deal

The WynnBet/Pistons deal is similar to the rash of sports betting partnership deals that have been consummated the last six or so months. Brand exposure and enhancement of the fan experience is the main aim of the partnership, for both entities involved.

Of course, co-branding opportunities will come with the agreement, inside the Pistons home venue, Little Caesars Arena and everywhere that the Pistons have a media presence, including Pistons game day radio programs, mobile app and social channels.

WynnBet will have an in-person activations opportunity inside the Pistons arena thanks to physical activation centers and will have a chance to strut their chops as a top-end VIP provider, which will eventually include luxury in-suite hospitality and pop-up experiences.

Wynn Wednesdays

Wynn resorts' Detroit Pistons deal has given birth to a new promotional opportunity for the sports betting provider. It is a unique WynnBet promotion called Wynn Wednesday – an idea that may just catch on in the betting providers’ other locations around the country and become part of the broader WynnBet brand.

Wynn Wednesdays will provide its Michigan clientele with a host of rotating Pistons-focused direct-to-consumer promotions available only on the WynnBet app. Clients of Wynn's mobile platform will get a weekly chance to win prizes which will include VIP experiences, tickets to future Pistons games and team and player memorabilia.

The Pistons Deal Adds to...

WynnBet forged its first official sports betting relationship with the NBA last month when they signed on with the Memphis Grizzlies. The company has also made inroads in the NASCAR universe, becoming authorized gaming operator of NASCAR, and signing on as the “Official Online Sportsbook” of the Martinsville Speedway and Richmond Raceway once the company is licensed in Virginia.

The partnerships are part of a broader attempt for WynnBet to take the next step in the development of their mobile app and to become a recognizable and trusted name in the increasingly growing US legal sports betting market. At this time, exposure is everything and aligning with such an iconic Michigan entity is definitely a good start.

WynnBet’s Informed Bet on Michigan

WynnBet, to their credit is making a big bet on Michigan. According to MichiganSharp.com, the Michigan legal betting market in the state is expected to elevate into an elite category with an eye-opening $650 million in betting and online revenues its first year, thanks to a rabid sporting fan-base of about 10 million residents.

The state just launched their online betting platform, and the numbers are eye-opening to say the least. In the first 10 days of mobile sports betting in Michigan, sportsbooks took in $115.2 million. WynnBet is now in line to get a piece of that pie.

WynnBet seems to be pulling the right strings during their ascension up the legal US sports betting ladder. Exposure in one of the biggest markets in the country and alignment with one of Michigan’s iconic and beloved sports franchises is more proof of that.
