The B.C. Lions opened the season with a 59-15 win against the Edmonton Elks and that lopsided result helped the Lions climb in the CFL Power Rankings.

Week 1 started with some competitive matchups with Calgary and Winnipeg earning narrow victories at home.

Even the Saskatchewan-Hamilton matchup was close until the Riders pulled away in the fourth quarter but B.C. crushed Edmonton in the final game of the week, and that dramatic result shifted the rankings for both the Lions and the Elks.

Here are the latest CFL Power Rankings, with Grey Cup odds via DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM.

CFL Power Rankings

1. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1-0)

Backup quarterback Dru Brown guided the Bombers to the game-winning drive for a late field goal to beat Ottawa, 19-17. Allowing 441 yards to the REDBLACKS was a little disconcerting but the Bombers might as well take the win and get ready for next week’s game at Ottawa.

2. Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-0)

Although the final score was a comfortable 30-13 win against Hamilton, it was a closer contest throughout before a couple of fourth-quarter touchdowns sealed the deal for Saskatchewan. QB Cody Fajardo passed for 311 yards and one touchdown while rushing for 42 yards and another touchdown.

3. Calgary Stampeders (1-0)

Emerged with a 30-27 victory at home against Montreal in a tight battle. RB Ka’Deem Carey picked up 90 yards and a couple of touchdowns on 16 touches to lead the way and Canadian WR Richie Sindani had a career-high 101 yards on seven catches.

4. Toronto Argonauts (0-0)

No game in Week 1 for the Argonauts and they still gained a spot in the rankings. Sometimes not losing is just as good as winning when it comes to relative value. Toronto opens their season on Thursday, when they host the Montreal Alouettes.

5. Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-1)

While the 30-13 final score in Saskatchewan is not very flattering to the Ti-Cats, the game was not really a mismatch to that degree. The big concern for Hamilton has to be ball security, as they turned it over five times and it’s tough to win when giving the ball away so easily.

6. B.C. Lions (1-0)

The most impressive showing in Week 1 belonged to the Lions, as they crushed Edmonton by a 59-15 score. Canadian QB Nathan Rourke completed 26 of 29 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns and RB James Butler piled up 141 yards and four touchdowns on 23 touches. That kind of came out of nowhere, so it’s fair to wonder if the Lions are for real but that question takes on a much more optimistic tone after that result.

7. Ottawa REDBLACKS (0-1)

QB Jeremiah Massoli passed for 380 yards and the REDBLACKS almost pulled off an upset at Winnipeg, losing 19-17. Masoli’s former Hamilton teammate, Jaelon Acklin, was his top receiver in this game, catching six passes for 143 yards.

8. Montreal Alouettes (0-1)

Montreal’s Week 1 result, a 30-27 loss at Calgary, hardly warrants being ranked eighth, but when star running back William Stanback suffers an ankle injury that requires surgery, well, it’s a tough situation for the Als heading into Week 2 at Toronto.

9. Edmonton Elks (0-1)

Even if there was going to be some skepticism about the Elks’ chances this season, it was hard to imagine falling behind 42-6 at halftime against a B.C. Lions team with an unproven quarterback. A home game against Saskatchewan awaits in Week 2, and the Elks will have to hope that they can bring a much better performance or else this season could go off the rails quickly.Make sure to keep an eye on our Live Odds page throughout the week to get the best lines possible and connect with others in the SBR community on our popular sports betting forum.
