Week 10 CFL Power Rankings: Blue Bombers and Lions Pulling Away

There is no doubt which team sits atop the CFL Power Rankings, but the No. 2 team is creating some separation from the rest of the league, too.
The unbeaten Winnipeg Blue Bombers are naturally the top-ranked team in this week’s CFL Power Rankings, but the B.C. Lions, coming off a blowout win against Edmonton, are pushing to join the Bombers in the top tier. B.C. has outscored opponents by a league-leading 119 points thus far, an average of 17 points per game.
While that leaves the Lions in second spot, they are the one team putting some pressure on Winnipeg at the top of the rankings.
Here are the latest CFL Power Rankings, with Grey Cup odds via DraftKings and FanDuel.

CFL Power Rankings
1. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (9-0)
Even with QB Zach Collaros throwing three interceptions, the Blue Bombers surged with 21 points in the fourth quarter to earn a 35-20 win at Montreal. RB Brady Oliveira stepped up, gaining 127 yards and a touchdown on 18 touches in the victory.
2. B.C. Lions (6-1)
The Lions’ explosiveness is what makes them a viable challenger to the unbeaten Blue Bombers. There is obviously a difference between taking on the top team in the league and beating up on the worst team in the league, but the Lions shredded the Edmonton Elks, by a 46-14 score, with QB Nathan Rourke completing 34-of-37 passes for 477 yards and five touchdowns. WR Dominique Rhymes caught three touchdown passes and WR Lucky Whitehead caught six passes for 148 yards and a touchdown.
3. Calgary Stampeders (5-2)
Forcing four turnovers and holding the Ottawa REDBLACKS to zero points until there was less than five minutes remaining Friday would seem an encouraging defensive performance in a 17-3 win, but QB Bo Levi Mitchell struggled to 13-of-27 passing for 137 yards and an interception. Mercifully, RB Dedrick Mills picked up 132 yards on 18 touches.
4. Toronto Argonauts (4-3)
After not scoring in the first quarter, the Argos outscored Hamilton 28-6 in the second half on the way to a 34-20 victory. The Tiger-Cats controlled yards and possession time, but Toronto won the turnover battle and that made the difference. WR Cam Phillips was the offensive star for the Argos, catching four passes for 85 yards and a touchdown on seven targets.
5. Saskatchewan Roughriders (4-4)
It was a bye week for the Riders and after three straight losses, that should give them a shot at a fresh start for this week’s game at Edmonton. It’s on the road, but a bye week before a game against the Elks is a solid setup to bust out of a slump.
6. Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-6)
Although the Ti-Cats showed an ability to move the ball at Toronto, getting outscored 28-6 in the second half was a miserable finish. QB Dane Evans did throw for 303 yards and completed passes to nine different receivers, but that was a disappointing result after jumping out to a 13-0 lead.
7. Montreal Alouettes (2-6)
Surprisingly held their own against Winnipeg, taking a 14-14 tie into the fourth quarter before fading in the final frame. DB Adarius Pickett had a monster game, with nine tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble, while WR Eugene Lewis was the main offensive threat, catching nine passes for 123 yards on 15 targets.
8. Ottawa REDBLACKS (1-7)
In a 17-3 loss to Calgary, Starting QB Caleb Evans struggled, completing 10-of-21 passes for 66 yards and an interception before he was replaced by Nick Arbuckle. Arbuckle was more accurate but also threw two interceptions, so Ottawa was largely stymied by the Stampeders defense.
9. Edmonton Elks (2-6)
Last week, it looked like a justifiable decision to drop the Elks into the basement of the rankings, and they responded with a 46-14 loss in B.C., solidifying their place as the league’s worst team to this point. Edmonton has scored 145 points while surrendering 290, so their average game is to get doubled up by the opposition.
