Rory McIlroy Consensus Favorite to Win 2022 Wells Fargo Championship

Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy is the consensus favorite to win the 2022 Wells Fargo Championship at TPC Potomac in Potomac, MD.

This is the first year the Wells Fargo will be held at TPC Potomac. Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC usually hosts the event, and McIlroy has three PGA Tour victories — including his first on tour — at Quail Hollow.

The venue shift is the result of Quail Hollow hosting the Presidents Cup in September.

With just five of the top-25 golfers on the Official World Golf Ranking teeing it up this week, McIlroy projects to be a popular target for bettors especially following Jon Rahm’s win as the consensus favorite last week at the Mexico Open.

The move to TPC Potomac probably won’t scare off McIlroy backers, either.

Canadian Corey Conners has the next shortest odds across the noted sportsbooks, and he’ll be looking for his first PGA Tour victory since winning the Valero Texas Open in 2019.

It’s also worth noting Tony Finau finished tied for second in the Mexico Open last week, so he’s entering the Wells Fargo in an improved form. It was his first top-10 finish since the Hero World Challenge in December, after all.

Not only is McIlroy the consensus favorite to win this week, but he’s also re-upped with Taylor Made ahead of the 2022 Wells Fargo Championship.

McIlroy is +10000 to hit a hole-in-one at DraftKings Sportsbook during the Wells Fargo, and he’s also listed at +230 to finish as the top European player at FanDuel Sportsbook.
