Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced a partnership that hopes to enhance fan experience for Toronto’s professional sport franchises.

AWS will provide MLSE their artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud service technology.

These technologies will enable MLSE to utilize Amazon’s network, database, and other resources to manage their business operations and enhance fan engagement and experience.

The synergy will allow MLSE & AWS to launch their “game within a game” experience. It allows fans to track player, and access to free-play and on-demand sports betting.

Access to Amazon Kinesis allows fans at home to create a mixed reality experience using video analysis from around the arena and sensors in players' uniforms.

AWS tested this technology during the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs when they provided Canadian hockey fans with shot and save analytics with on-screen graphics that allowed viewers to understand how their teams were performing from an analytical perspective.

Another opportunity provided through this unique partnership is the Digital Arena platform. It allows fans to communicate with mascots, team alumni, and each other throughout the game they choose to watch.

"We are always searching for innovative organizations to partner with that will disrupt the norm and create the very best experience for our fans. Our partnership and what we plan to achieve with AWS will help transform Toronto's sports and entertainment industry," said Jordan Vader, senior vice president at MLSE.

Toronto teams that will begin offering the technology are the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, Toronto Football Club (FC), and Toronto Argonauts.
