It’s not surprising to see the Michigan Panthers with the shortest odds with head coach Jeff Fisher at the helm. He’s the most recognized coach in the league, after all.
The Panthers also had the first quarterback selection. They chose Shea Patterson, a former Michigan Wolverine, so the Michigan connection probably had a lot to do with Patterson being the first signal-caller picked in the draft.
The Tampa Bay Bandits and New Orleans Breakers are listed with the second-lowest odds, and again the Bandits’ number is likely coaching-related. Tampa Bay head coach Todd Haley would rank right behind Fisher as the most notable coach in the USFL.
There are already 15 states with approved betting on the USFL. Connecticut, Delaware, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, and Wisconsin don’t require state regulatory approval of new leagues. In contrast, Iowa, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia have all authorized licensed sports wagering on the USFL.
The USFL playoff games will be played in Canton, OH, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. It’s a 20,000-seat facility adjacent to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The two semifinal games will be played Saturday, June 25, between the top two teams in each division, and the USFL Championship Game will be held Sunday, July 3.
