DraftKings Portugal vs Uruguay Preview

Back in 2018, Portugal had aspirations of getting their elusive first World Cup victory, but that dream was cut short as Uruguay defeated them in the Round of 16. Today, Portugal gets their shot at revenge as they can possibly deliver a crushing blow to Uruguay's World Cup hopes.

It was a wild opening game for Portugal as they defeated Ghana 3-2 on Thursday. The most notable player to score was Cristiano Ronaldo, who opened up the scoring on a penalty kick in the 65th minute.

The Portuguese enter this matchup with Uruguay in very good form. They have won three of their past four games and are 7-2-1 in their last 10 matches. With a victory, they will clinch a berth in the knockout stage for a second straight tournament.

Uruguay

Uruguay’s opening game was a much different one, as they suffered a scoreless draw to South Korea. The game was fairly even throughout, as both teams had their chances but there was only one shot on target between the two in the entire game.

Uruguay will have to step up their game as they face the high-powered offense of Portugal. Uruguay is 7-2-1 in their last ten games but will have to get a result in this one if they hope to advance past the group stage.

Portugal is currently a +100 favorite, while Uruguay is coming in at +320, and a tie at +235. Both teams have several familiar faces from their previous match at the World Cup, including Edinson Cavani, who scored both goals in the match for Uruguay in 2018.
