Our second of three matchups on Thanksgiving is an NFC (B)East game between the New York Giants (7-3) and the Dallas Cowboys (7-3). Despite the teams both having tremendous records, the oddsmakers believe that the Cowboys are the much better team. They opened as 9-point favorites in this one.

New York Giants

The New York Giants got off to an outstanding start to their 2022 campaign, sitting at 6-1 on the season. Since then, they have gone 1-2 with losses to the Seattle Seahawks and the Detroit Lions. The key to their success early in the season was their run game. In those two losses, star running back Saquon Barkley ran 35 times for an abysmal 75 yards (2.1 yards per carry). If the Giants can establish that run game early on, this game could be much closer than what the oddsmakers suggest.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys come into this one with one of the hottest offences in the NFL. Over the last three games, Dallas is averaging an average of 39 points per game. Tony Pollard has evolved into one of the best duel-threats in football, and Ezekiel Elliot made his return from injury with two touchdowns in the Cowboys 40-3 thrashing of the Minnesota Vikings. We also must discuss this Cowboy defence that is firing on all cylinders. Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs are playing the best football of their young careers.

Betting Outlook

It’s rare that you see multiple 7-3 teams face off with a spread this high, especially in a divisional game, but I think it is justified. The Cowboys have dominated the Giants in recent history going 9-1 SU and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 matchups. In the first matchup of the season, the Giants were able to run for 167 yards, yet they still lost the game (at home as well). The Cowboys are coming off a blowout win, while the Giants are coming off a blowout loss, which could be inflating this line. It's always exciting when we get to see one of the  biggest rivalries in the NFL.
