Collin Morikawa has received the most money wagered to win the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, TX, at BetMGM ahead of the event.

The five-time PGA Tour winner has received 16% of the betting handle and 7% of tickets.

While Morikawa is still looking for his first victory of the season, he currently ranks 19th in FedEx Cup points and has earned $3,603,658 to date with six top-10 finishes.

The 25-year-old American sports a top-20 rank in driving accuracy percentage, greens in regulation percentage, birdie average, and scoring average, so there are many encouraging signs in his game.

However, Morikawa’s play around the green and on the putting surface has let him down. He ranks 172nd on tour in shots gained: around-the-green and 84th in shots gained: putting.

The “drive for show and putt for dough” line would be in play if Morikawa hadn’t already cashed in $3.6 million in earnings this year.

More to that point, his past strong finishes at Colonial – 14th in 2021 and second in 2020 – paired with the potential for statistical correction to his short game have caught the attention of bettors.

While it’s difficult to win consecutive events on the PGA Tour, it’s interesting to see Justin Thomas (+1100) down the ticket and handle percentage rankings. Additionally, Scottie Scheffler’s (+1200) percentages are also down compared to recent events he’s played in.

As always, Jordan Speith (+1200) remains a favorite among bettors.

He’s also been an ATM at Colonial with a victory, seven top-10 finishes, and placing 32nd, his worst finish in nine professional trips around the track.

Longshot Fliers Based on Handle Percentage

Kevin Kisner (+10000)Rickie Fowler (+10000)Patrick Reed (+8000)

It’s interesting to note that Rickie Fowler’s odds have climbed despite being a popular pick among punters. The five-time winner on tour might be finding some forgotten form with consecutive top-25 finishes at the Wells Fargo and PGA Championships, too.
