Paul Casey has withdrawn from the Wells Fargo Championship prior to the start of his first round Thursday.

It isn’t a surprising development considering Casey also opted out of the tournament’s Pro-Am event on Wednesday.

Of course, the 44-year-old Englishman famously bowed out of The Masters Tournament in April, and he still hasn’t played since finishing third at The Players Championship.

This is now the fourth consecutive event he’s withdrawn from due to a back injury.

Casey withdrew from the Valspar Championship because of back spasms, and then he conceded consecutive matches at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play before withdrawing ahead of his third match.

Surely, the DFS community didn’t take the risk of starting Casey in their daily-fantasy lineups this week, especially following Wednesday’s withdrawal from the Pro-Am.

Casey is listed in the field for next week’s PGA Championship at Southern Hills Championship Course.
