As the National Hockey League prepares to drop the puck on a new season, the time is right to look for value in the Stanley Cup futures market. Here are my rankings of the top sportsbooks for betting Stanley Cup futures.

Fresh off my Stanley Cup odds analysis ahead of the start of NHL training camps, I have ranked the top sportsbooks based on the value they present in the Stanley Cup futures market.

The appeal of a sportsbook when it comes to Stanley Cup wagering is heavily dependent on how likely you are to get the best price. Sometimes competitive pricing is the best that hope for with your primary sports betting site – but if you’re going to put down your money, you might want to consider multiple sportsbooks to maximize your exposure to the best value.

When surveying the landscape, that is the big challenge for futures bettors, because that can vary – sometimes dramatically – from team to team when it comes to futures markets.

Here are my rankings of the top sportsbooks for Stanley Cup futures wagering.

1. DraftKings Sportsbook

Even though DraftKings sits at the top of the rankings, its odds for the top teams like the Colorado Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers are among the shortest in the marketplace. However, beyond those three clubs, DraftKings has consistently higher odds among the rest of the teams on the board, from expected playoff teams to the longshots.

2. FanDuel Sportsbook

The appeal from FanDuel is that it offers better prices on the top teams. Aside from being slightly below the market on the Carolina Hurricanes, FanDuel has average or better prices on the rest of the top six teams, so if your focus is on picking one of the favorites, FanDuel provides strong returns on those clubs. Aside from the longest of longshots, FanDuel also avoids having the shortest odds for too many teams, which makes for more playable action.

3. PointsBet Sportsbook

There is something to be said for PointsBet sticking to the middle range of the odds: not the longest odds on the board among Cup contenders, but trending towards longer than average odds. It means that there are not many teams in which PointsBet offers the very best price, so that might limit the appeal, but it has competitive pricing overall. That said, to move up the rankings, it could offer even a slightly improved return on the top teams.

4. Caesars Sportsbook

Compared to other top sportsbooks, Caesars has some serious variance – offering the best prices to the worst prices from one team to the next, with very little in between. They have the best odds for top teams like the Maple Leafs and Panthers, yet the worst for the Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning, among others. Caesars also has relatively low odds for the longest shots on the board, though there is probably not a huge futures market for the Chicago Blackhawks or Arizona Coyotes to win the Stanley Cup.

5. Barstool Sportsbook

Barstool and BetRivers have identical Stanley Cup futures odds for every one of the 32 NHL teams. They are not all bad, either, as they offer the best prices on top contenders like the Avalanche, Panthers, and Edmonton Oilers. Even the cases in which they have shorter odds are not especially egregious.

6. BetMGM Sportsbook

BetMGM tends towards lower prices for any of the top teams, with the Lightning and Calgary Flames the only two among the top dozen or so in which BetMGM is offering odds that are average or longer.  There is more appeal to their pricing of teams in the middle to lower range, so if teams of that ilk are where you would like to find Stanley Cup futures value, BetMGM has favorable prices on teams like the Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, and Dallas Stars.
