Seeking value in the futures marketplace, finding the right price can make a substantial difference in determining the value of a play. Here is a ranking of the top sportsbooks when it comes to betting NHL Division Winner Futures.

Every top sportsbook makes trade-offs when setting the marketplace for division winner futures.

Some prefer to offer more enticing odds for the favorites before going with shorter odds on the rest of the board. Others will go shorter among the favorites and try to make up for it with longer odds among the others. Rare is the sportsbook that will offer better potential returns for both the favorites and the relative value plays.

When it comes to NHL division winners, sportsbooks should not get too much credit for lofty prices on the longshot teams. They are low-risk options for the sportsbook, unlikely to turn into big wins. Volume will typically go toward the favored teams, so there is more value in offering longer odds for those teams.

Here are my rankings of the top sportsbooks for wagering on NHL Division Winner Futures.

1. Caesars Sportsbook

Favorable odds on top teams
Less value on longshot picks

Following up the sportsbook rankings for NHL awards futures, Caesars once again takes top spot when it comes to setting the markets for NHL division winners.

Among the leading sportsbooks, Caesars offered the longest odds for the top two contenders in the Atlantic and Metropolitan Divisions, the most appealing odds on the favored Colorado Avalanche in the Central, and then relatively average odds on the Pacific, except with notably longer odds on the Calgary Flames. Caesars’ strategy seems to be that it will offer favorable prices on the top teams and shorter odds moving down the list. That means medium or longer shots likely offer better value elsewhere.

2. DraftKings Sportsbook

Above-average value on select contenders
Short prices on Maple Leafs

While the quest to find a sportsbook is often focused on the book that offers the very best price, DraftKings leans more toward having better-than-average pricing among the contenders.

There are some odds that are shorter than at other sportsbooks, like the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers in the Central and Minnesota Wild in the Central, but DraftKings offers the longest odds among the top sportsbooks when it comes to the Vegas Golden Knights, St. Louis Blues, Tampa Bay Lightning, and New York Islanders to win their respective divisions.

3. FanDuel Sportsbook

In line with the industry standards
Few notable value plays

Not having division winner futures for the Pacific Division is not cool. Even if the decision was prompted by uncertainty about the status of Anaheim Ducks center Trevor Zegras, who was injured Wednesday, the Ducks are not prime contenders for the division even with a healthy Zegras, so taking those odds off the board is unnecessary.

Otherwise, FanDuel does not offer especially notable odds, mostly just average to above average when compared with other top sportsbooks. A couple of notable exceptions include the prices on the Calgary Flames and New Jersey Devils to win their divisions.

4. PointsBet Sportsbook

Most odds line up with the competition
Reduced value on favorites

While Caesars offers the longest odds when it comes to favorites, PointsBet seems to favor the opposite approach, giving shorter odds on favorites, but mostly average odds for the rest of the board. Its most notable favorable odds are for the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers in the Metropolitan Division and the Boston Bruins in the Atlantic.

5. Barstool Sportsbook

Great value on a handful of contenders
Some of the shortest odds on other favorites

The NHL division winner pricing at Barstool swings between short odds for favorites and longer odds for other contenders.

On one hand, it has longer odds for the Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, and Dallas Stars in the Central Division, but boasts the shortest odds among top sportsbooks for the favored Colorado Avalanche. Barstool has relatively favorable pricing for the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, and Boston Bruins, but that is not enough to offset shorter odds for the consensus favorites, though depending on the specific wager you want to make, Barstool might be the one offering the best price.

6. BetMGM Sportsbook

Longer division odds for select contenders
Worst odds for Pacific Division favorites

Among teams that are at least playoff contenders at the top sportsbooks, BetMGM is offering the longest division odds for the Washington Capitals and Vancouver Canucks, two teams that are not exactly favorites, so BetMGM is taking a low-risk approach, but that also offers lower reward to bettors. It does not have the worst odds on the board, except as it pertains to the Pacific Division, as BetMGM has the shortest odds for the Edmonton Oilers, Vegas Golden Knights, and Los Angeles Kings.
