Best Sportsbooks for 2022-23 NBA Championship Futures Ranked

As the NBA prepares to tip off next week, now is the time to seek out value on the futures market. Here are my rankings of the top sportsbooks for betting 2023 NBA championship futures.

While the field of potential NBA champions feels closed around the teams with the very best individual players, the depth of elite talent in the league does seem to offer more teams a viable shot at the title.

That makes it worth shopping for the best prices and comparing the top sportsbooks, because the difference in price from one sportsbook to the next can swing the value substantially.

Here are my rankings of the best NBA betting sites for 2023 NBA championship futures wagering.

FanDuel Sportsbook

Of the consensus Top 14 teams vying for the NBA championship, FanDuel offers the longest odds for 10 of them. It has the shortest odds on the board for one of those 14 teams (the Brooklyn Nets) and FanDuel’s odds are consistently better than other sportsbooks on this list. It is offering more favorable prices and an easy website to navigate for NBA championship bettors – and that gives FanDuel a big win in this market.

PointsBet Sportsbook

I wrote this about PointsBet and Stanley Cup betting in the NHL: “There is something to be said for PointsBet sticking to the middle range of the odds, not the longest odds on the board among Cup contenders, but trending towards longer than average odds.”

This theme carries over to its NBA championship odds. PointsBet only has the shortest odds on the board when multiple other sportsbooks also have those same odds, so it tends towards average or longer odds, while rarely having the very best prices on the board.

DraftKings Sportsbook

Though DraftKings skews toward average or longer prices for NBA title contenders, it also has some notable exceptions. DraftKings offers shorter than average odds on the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers and New Jersey Nets, three of the top five teams on the board.

On the other hand, DraftKings offers the longest odds among the top sportsbooks for the Milwaukee Bucks, one of the consensus top five teams fighting for the championship.

Caesars Sportsbook

It's not unusual for Caesars’ odds to come with greater variance than those at other top sportsbooks. That means offering the longest odds for the Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks. It also means the shortest championship odds for the Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, and Denver Nuggets.

Caesars is not seeking middle ground, it appears. It also comes in with shorter than average odds for teams that could be hovering around the playoff bubble.

Barstool Sportsbook

Credit Barstool for offering competitive odds at the very top of the board. The Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, and Brooklyn Nets have either the longest odds or longer than average odds at Barstool. Beyond those four teams, though, the prices tend to be average or shorter in most cases for the playoff contenders, limiting the overall appeal.

BetMGM Sportsbook

BetMGM doesn't provide a competitive marketplace for the NBA title, not when compared to the other sportsbooks on this list. Of the top 16 teams on the board, BetMGM offers odds that are average or shorter in 14 cases. That includes eight teams in which BetMGM has the shortest or tied for the shortest odds on the board.

The exceptions are the Los Angeles Clippers, tied for the longest odds, and the Dallas Mavericks, coming in slightly longer than average. Aside from those two teams, though, BetMGM offers a much weaker return than every other sportsbook on this list.
