Indians and Yankees in the Bronx
The Yankees and Indians open a four game set on Thursday. The first pitch at Yankee Stadium is slated for 7:05 PM ET. The only meeting of the season between these American League clubs was just last week in Cleveland. Cleveland took two of three in that series, and two of those games also went over the total. A pair of right-handed hurlers will oppose each other today in the Bronx. Josh Tomlin will be on the mound for Cleveland and New York counters with Ivan Nova.
Tribe and Tribulations
Cleveland has dropped four of their last five headed into today. “The Tribe” have held serve during its away games this season with a respectable 31-30 record in that role. However, they’ve gone 3-8 during the last eleven on the road. Josh Tomlin will be making just his second start of the season on Thursday. He was victimized by two home runs allowed during a 4-1 loss at Minnesota last Saturday. Tomlin has made two career starts at Yankee Stadium, and they were brutal performances. During those two outings, Tomlin posted a gargantuan 13.50 ERA and 2.63 WHIP.
“Bronx Bombers” return to Winning Form
After enduring a recent five game losing streak, the Yankees have rebounded to win three in a row, and six of their previous seven. During those last seven, they’ve averaged 5.3 runs per game, and compiled an excellent .469 team slugging percentage. Ivan Nova has posted a very respectable 3.57 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in his nine starts this year. According to current MLB betting odds at BetCris.com, the Yankees are a -154 money line favorite. Since 2013, Nova is 14-2 in his team starts as a money line favorite of -110 or more.
Money Line Betting System
The Yankees enter today with a 67-52 record which is good for a .563 winning percentage.
The Indians are 55-64 on the year which equates to a .462 winning percentage.
Any money line home favorite (Yankees) of -150 or more that’s won four of its previous five games, and has a winning percentage of .540 to .620, versus an opponent with a winning percentage of .460 to .490, resulted in the home favorite going 60-13 (82.2%) since 2011. I’ll have a strong lean toward the home side for one of my MLB picks on Thursday.
