Without dropping a single service game so far on this event, Milos Raonic is already at the Miami Open quarterfinals. As we mentioned in our ATP & WTA Miami Day 7 analysis, it has been a remarkable season so far for the Canadian, losing only two matches in 2016 – against Andy Murray at the Australian Open and Novak Djokovic in Indian Wells. Despite winning all his previous three matches on this event in straight sets, Raonic hasn’t been as impressive as he was in Indian Wells, especially on his 3rd round match against Jack Sock.
After struggling with some physical issues in recent weeks, Nick Kyrgios is returning to his best level. Kyrgios is one of the most talented young players on tour and even though he’s irreverence and controversies, the Australian clearly improved on that department in recent months. This is Nick’s first career appearance on a Masters 1000 quarterfinals, after defeating so far Marcos Baghdatis, Tim Smyczek and Andrey Kuznetsov.
This will be the fourth career meeting between these two players, with Raonic leading on h2h by 2 – 1.
This should be a very close contest between two of the best servers on tour, with a high probability of at least one tie break being played. This match will be played on night session, which decreases the game speed and should benefit Kyrgios. Adding to this, the Australian loves to play in night sessions, usually performing at his best under this circumstances. Looking at the tennis odds for this match, the value is clearly on Kyrgios and for that reason, we suggest you to place a bet on the Australian to take the win on this match.

On our ATP & WTA Miami Day 9 analysis, we picked Victoria Azarenka to cover her spread against Johanna Konta, and the Belarussian matched the expectations with a 6 – 4 6 – 2 triumph. It was far from an easy match – especially the first set – with Konta playing at a very high level, but Azarenka is currently producing some of her best tennis ever and she was just too good for her opponent. One of the keys for the Belarussian’s victory was her success on pressure points, saving all the five break points she faced and converting three of the five chances she had.
After two early losses in Doha and Indian Wells, Angelique Kerber found her best tennis in Miami. The 2016 Australian Open champion is for the first time on this event’s semifinals, after a great victory against Madison Keys. Angelique showed all her defensive skills against the American, always forcing Keys to an extra shot and opening the court extremely well with her left-handed serve.
These two players will face each other for the 8t h time on their career, with Azarenka leading on h2h by 6 – 1. However, it was Kerber who won the previous meeting at the Australian Open this year by 6 – 3 7 – 5.
Despite Azarenka’s terrific form lately, it won’t be easy for her to defeat such a tough competitor as Kerber. We should witness some outstanding baseline rallies, with two of the most consistent players on tour fighting for a place at the Miami Open final. We agree that Azarenka deserves to be considered favorite, but she seems to be overrated for this contest. Kerber won’t go down without a fight and with this in mind, we suggest adding the Over to your tennis picks as the best play on this match.
