27/10 05:00 am (set kill 27/10 09:00 pm) – Tennis Betting: WTA Finals Singapore – Best Plays For Day 5

Simona Halep (3) vs. Dominika Cibulkova (7)

Dominika Cibulkova is the only player on this Red Group who hasn’t won a match yet. After an extremely tough defeat on her debut against Angelique Kerber, Cibulkova suffered a heavy loss against Madison Keys in the following contest by 1 – 6 4 – 6. Despite her aggressive game, Dominika couldn’t find an answer to Madison’s powerful groundstrokes. Looking now at Cibulkova’s numbers against Keys, the Slovak ended the match with only 0.35 winners per game, nothing when compared to the 1.33 winners per game against Kerber.

After an outstanding performance on her debut against Madison Keys, Simona Halep couldn’t find an answer to Angelique Kerber’s solid baseline game. Looking now to Simona’s numbers, the Romanian only converted 1/6 break points against 4/5 from Kerber. Despite that loss, Halep is still in a very good position to reach the WTA Finals semifinals. As we mentioned in previous articles, the conditions in Singapore clearly suit Simona’s game style, with the Romanian saying that this is one of her favorite tournaments on the WTA Tour.

This will be the 6th career meeting between these two players with Cibulkova leading by 3 – 2 on the h2h.

Despite Dominika’s lead on the head-to-head, Halep won their last encounter a few months ago in Madrid’s final by 6 – 2 6 – 4. This should be a very interesting contest between two outstanding ball strikers but at the end, Halep’s solid baseline game should be too much for Cibulkova to handle. With this in mind, our suggestion is for you to add Halep to your betting picks as the highest value play for this contest.

Angelique Kerber (1) vs. Madison Keys (7)

After a disappointing debut against Simona Halep, Madison Keys performed at a superb level against Dominika Cibulkova in the following match. The first set was close to perfection with Keys crushing Cibulkova by 6 – 1 with 16 winners and only 4 unforced errors. Known for her powerful serve, Madison won 75.51% of the points played on her serve, not facing a single break point throughout the match. Looking now to the possible scenarios on this group, Keys needs to win in straight sets to secure a place in the semifinals otherwise, she’ll have to wait for the outcome of the other match.

Angelique Kerber is in a great position to reach the semifinals after winning her previous two matches in Singapore. However, if Halep defeats Cibulkova in straight sets and Kerber loses to Keys in two sets, the German is out of this competition. Despite this scenario, it’s unlikely to see Angelique losing in straight sets after the way she performed so far in Singapore. Winning two Grand Slams gives a tremendous confidence to Kerber with the German converting 72.70% of her break points so far on this event.

These two players know each other well with Kerber winning five of their previous six meetings.

This is one of the most extreme match-ups on the WTA Tour with Keys’ firepower contrasting with Angelique’s outstanding defense. Despite Madison’s improvements this year, Kerber is still a terrible match-up for the American. Having said that, Angelique is the right play on this match and for that reason, we recommend you to take advantage of the German's betting odds.
