Top Half of the Draw
For the second time this year, Timea Bacsinszky is the top seeded player on a WTA event. After winning the title in Rabat a couple months ago, Timea is looking for another successful journey in Gstaad. Clay is clearly Bacsinszky’s favorite surface and with the home support, this is a great opportunity for the Swiss to grab her 5th career title.
Looking to Timea’s draw on this event, the world no.11 shouldn’t experience any major problems until the semifinals, with Johanna Larsson as the toughest player that she might face before that stage – in the quarterfinals. However, Bacsinszky won all their previous three meetings in straight sets and for that reason, it’s unlikely to see the Swiss losing before the semifinals.
It has been a remarkable season for Kiki Bertens, with the Dutch breaking into the top 30 for the first time on her career. Bertens loves to compete on clay with a tremendous performance in Roland Garros, losing only in the semifinals against Serena Williams.
Kiki shouldn’t experience any difficulties on the first two matches where she might face Timea Paszek and Claire Feuerstein. Things might get tougher in the quarterfinals where Bertens might face Julia Goerges. The two featured a remarkable battle a few weeks ago in Nurnberg, with Bertens winning that contest by 3 – 6 6 – 4 7 – 6. Despite Julia’s tremendous firepower and powerful baseline game, Kiki should emerge victorious once again to book a place in the semifinals.
After their recent meeting at the French Open, Bertens and Bacsinszky should face each other once more. We believe that whoever wins this match should leave Gstaad with the title and for that reason, it seems a good valuable opportunity to add both players to your tennis picks. Our suggestion is for you to split your stake between these two players, with Bacsinszky currently priced at +175 while Bertens can be found at +500, both on bet365.
Bottom Half of the Draw
It hasn’t been an easy year for Jelena Jankovic, with the former world no.1 struggling with some physical problems and unable to find her best tennis. Jelena is the highest ranked player on the bottom half of the draw and even though she has a very good draw on this event, it’s hard for us to trust on the Serbian due to her poor results lately. Jankovic can still be a very dangerous player on the big stages but on this lower level events, she usually struggles to find the proper motivation. With this in mind, we recommend you to avoid placing any bet on the Serbian’s outright at +700 on bet365.
Known for her powerful game style, Caroline Garcia can be a very dangerous player on any surface and the French already proved that this year, winning one title on clay – Strasbourg – and one on grass – Mallorca. However, Caroline is also known for struggling to perform at a consistent level and she’ll have an extremely tough debut against a great clay court player, Lara Arruabarrena. If Garcia survives that first test she might reach the latest stages of the competition yet, we cannot find value on her tennis odds at +500 on bet365 since we wouldn’t be surprised with an early loss from Caroline.
