    Richard Gasquet

Do you guys think Gasquet under achieved in his tennis career the guy had the talent to win at least 2 grand slams but his mental focus was never there and he ended up a journeyman who earned a decent living on the atp tennis tour.

Odd thread. You're going to get about 5 guys on this entire forum who would have a legit opinion on this.

He's probably underachieved, he just doesn't have that competitive drive to really take his game to the next step and put up a fight against guys better than him. I think he's content to just be a top 30 player and make a nice living.

There's a handful of guys like this, just content to take a back seat to the stars.

Goffin, Theim, Anderson, Mueller, Berdych, couple Spaniards....if you bet challengers you see the same clowns at the same odds all the time, they never do anything in the Grand Slams.

Gasquet is a second rate player , frenchie that will never be on the top of the sport because he does not have the physical attributes to compete nor the athleticism needed to be on top of the sport. Hence he will always be second rate !!

I dont think so. The problem is people's over expectations for athletes. He has a career high ranking of #7, made it to 3 Major SF's and a QF, has won 14 tourneys, played in 2 Tour Finals and has made over 15 mil in prize money, not too shabby. Considering he's never had a great forehand he's done well IMO.

I agree on Monfils. Was never offensive enough, played his entire career like Murray, defensively, Murray changed up his style and won majors. When Monfils hit 30 last year a bell went off in his head like most athletes when they feel time is winding down. He was very serious and started to play more offensively, he probably had the best year of his career last year.

Gasquet just doesn't have the stamina to match-up with the elite players on tour. Only a handful do... and even those seem to fall short, be it in semi's or finals. Cilic, Agut, Berdych, Kei are prime examples. CIlic was lucky he got his Slam, but unlikely he repeats. Most unlucky player on tour would be David Ferrer: went head to head with the big 4 and just didn't have that extra edge. You've got to be perfect to beat Nadal, Djoko and Fed. How many times did Murray dominate the first set in finals only to unravel under pressure?!

He has an amazing one handed backhand, but that's it. His forehand is a joke, his serve is not that good and he plays too defensive. Good for some 250s, but that's it.
