    Karlovic - Harrison

Karlovic has never won 8 consecutive games in ATP. He is showing he is breakable this week. I might take Harrison/over 2.5 sets, but after yesterday a total letdown is possible. What do you guys think?

He dropped the opening set but lajovic didn't sniff another break point after that one long game in the first set? I don't get the letdown part but I did not watch the match either

Letdown part: Public money on Harrison since he beat Dimitrov as a huge underdog, and he fails to deliver

I think Harrison is stronger in Forehand and serve than Lajovic and Gabashvili is one of the biggest losers on Tour. Still they broke Karlo

And as horrible as Donald Duck was, he still found 7 break points against Karlo last week. Karlo's 2nd serve might be vulnerable today against Harrison who can pound the ball on Forehand, but I will appreciate feedbacks

like most matches it's up to Ivo. if he's on, then he wins.
if he tires or df's, he loses. what else is there to say ?

And how does he look on this surface? I did not watch him this week. Delray was perfect for his game.

    Good point though

he doesn't look quite as dominating as in Delray, but he's still managed fine.
it is more reasonable to see Ivo getting a shot at Harrison's serve than the
other way around... where will Harrison get any chance to break up unless Ivo
    has problems ? nowhere.

they all dread playing Ivo. even the best. half the game is basically conceded.
if there are any problems at all in your serve vs Ivo, you have no chance.
players can't find a rhythym. they get frustrated. they feel like spectators.

lol he beats one quality opponent that probably could care less if he was there or not and everybody joins the Harrison train. Ivo rolls here

Harrison might be starting his Goffin streak. If that little plucker can do it, any of them can. Harrisons back was also jacked most of last year. Not saying I'd bet this match, but stranger things have happened.

Harrison is one of those players that gives up when down. Don't see him being about to put together a streak like goffin. Not mentally strong enough

I don't know, I see a kid that has desire. He hasn't always played great, but so far this year he's show heart. Have to think a win would mean more to him than Ivo. He probably loses in straights, but I'll root for him

Ivo has been playing on courts with no cameras so unless you have actually been at the games, how can anyone say they know how Karlovic is playing on this surface?

Ha good point. Just going by the scorelines, he hasn't been steamrolling everyone like he did at Delray

The only way I can see Harrison winning is if he breaks early and wins the first set. Once he gets behind he normally gives up.

He's winning without tiebreaks which is a first in his career. Stats wise, his numbers are the same if not better this tournament so far.

    Lajovic - 7 break points, 2 against
    Gabashvili - 8 and 6

    Young - 3 and 7
    Mannarino - 5 and 5
    Johnson - 3 and 5
    Kookinakis - 2 and 2
    Brown - 7 and 0

Going by break points, Karlovic is doing a much better job here. Keep in mind this is just break points so take it for what it's worth but his ace count and all other stats are very similar. So pretty much without a stream of the matches and just going by stats as that's all we have, how exactly are ppl saying Karlovic is struggling here compared to Delray?

Purely a product of dropping sets vs. not dropping sets last week would be my guess.

Karlovic has been on fire, don't know what anyone else has been watching.
Guys fkn 35 years old keeps on battling like a boss.
Hit a speed bump first set yesterday but still owned the match.

Harrison is whack and a win vs. Dmitrov isn't that big a deal here IMO

    Karlovic straight sets here

Got me. You're absolutely right, I just recall that in Delray he wasn't broken himself much at all. If at all? I'm too lazy to look.

where has Harrison ever seen a serve like Dr. Ivo's ?
i admire what he's done as much as anyone else, but this line
is half price what it should be...

Harrison lost in two tiebreaks to Groth when he served 73% 1st serve and 23 aces. Also bet Isner 6-4 6-4 in the past.

I think Dr Ivo offers a bit more than Groth and Isner though during rallies in this current form of his though so not sure if the two matches above mean much.

only months ago i watched Harrison demolishing his racket and showing beer gut
after losing to Liam Broady in front of nobody in the stands but his girlfriend
(who is Christina McHale's sister) and his Dad. He's come a long way "but"..
if he can take this well then he can take my $ tonight.

Watched the last Ivo serve. I'd rather be watching paint dry. Would probably be fun to play some kind of drinking game watching this match. On Ivo's serve:
    1 drink for service winner
    2 drinks for ace
5 drinks for rally over 4 shots

Karlovic with a pulse on return these last 2 weeks. I've never seen him return so well during this 2 week stretch. Isner makes Ivo look like Djokovic on return. Isner is now by far and away the worst returner on tour.
