Im leaning Monaco @ +100 on this match However, I have a few concerns regarding why Mayer retired in his last match vs Rola. I think this slow Dirt favors the returner big time. We all know Monaco has a fairly weak first serve but I believe he's the superior returner between these two. Both these guys are playing at home. How is this clay compared to the clay in Hamburg? I still believe Mayer is a solid 50 rank in the world and maybe still recieving too much hype.
Mayer is in better form for the last year, but Monaco is the better player and has had much more success at this tourney.
Monaco is rounding into form I believe reaching the quarters last week taking Ferrer to 3 sets. Mayer lost to Souza and retired/getting beat against Rola the last 2 weeks.
Both have a house in Buenos Aires.
Both destroyed in the 1st round, with Monaco beat the better opponent in Gonzalez.
I lean Monaco. Monaco is starting to play better ball and Mayer hasn't impressed lately.
