Let's talk about the match we're all thinking about.

French Open Quarterfinals: Tomas Berdych (1.67) v Ernests Gulbis (2.20)

No surprise that Berdych comes in as a moderate favorite in this match. He has beaten Gulbis 4 out of 6 matches, and their only match on clay Berdych won 4,2.

That being said, Ernests Gulbis comes in playing some of the best tennis of his life.

I think his beating Federer in 5 sets can be looked at on of two ways:

1: He comes into this quarterfinal tired from a hard fought, almost 4 hour match.

2:He comes into this match with momentum and high morale, after having beaten one of tennis' titans

My lean: Gulbis (2.20) in 4 or 5.

I will not put in a bet on this match until I get some feedback from the community I respect. My book: carbonsports.ag only offers tennis ML's, no spreads or totals.

Just a quick insight.. Berdych Struggles against Clay Court Specialists (Losing to Garcia Lopez, Nadal, Berlocq, Dmitrov (sort of) this year) but against Hard Hitting Clay Courters (Gulbis, Isner, Anderson) he owns. Its a battle of Serve and Forehand and Berdych will most likely win in 4 with 2 tiebreakers. Maybe 5th set if he gets cold on a tiebreak.

I wanna know more about this Djokovic vs Raonic match. Raonic is hot right now and djokovic just gave tsonga beating of his life. Does over 36.5 hit. I can't see why not, but on other hand I couldn't have predicted the ass whooping Tsonga received.

What you said about Berdych, it makes sense, but still... You cannot put Gulbis in the same category of hard hitting players, with Isner and Anderson. He is so much better athlete, with amazing court coverage and pretty much equally good hitting from both wings. Yes, he serves and hits hard, but he can defend as well + win the long rallies. I am not saying that he is the play here, because I am not sure about these odds. Only saying that he is much more acomplished player, comparing to other hard hitting players.

I don't agree. You can't compare Isner or Anderson (who do not defend) to Gulbis. The last one moves a lot better, even better than Berdych and on clay this will play vital role. The only thing that can save Berdych is high % on 1st serves and/or injury to Ernests which is highly possible as his physical condition is questionable.

I think Berdych wins, and that he is more likely to than the odds imply.

Oooh I am on the same side as the professor! Sweet.

My whole question is why are people treating Gulbis' win over Fed as some marquee moment? It's nice, but treating it as a signature win shows the flaws in Gulbis' career more than anything to me. Beating Federer in a Slam at this stage is not marquee. It's beating a top ten player for sure, but not like beating Djokovic or Nadal who are still in their primes.

Eagles right on it. Feddy's got babies at home. For Feddy, tennis is nice, tennis is fun, but tennis is no longer his love.

There is a dozen of challenger tourneys now and some lines were off IMO, much better than trying to beat the books at late rounds of a GS when tons of money are getting bet and bookies are putting a lot of effort in sharpening the lines.

He beat Isner in straights, Im thinking it will go 4 or 5, because of the fact that gulbis is much more athletic than the big guys. I am just comparing style of game, Gulbis is not a grinder, he don't have the mindset for that

I am getting a live line on this match. Maybe 5dimes has some kinda of filter that includes/exclude who get live odds.

oh, I was doing in play betting. They also have live.

I meant from the main page

    Live In-Play Tennis Money Line
French Open - Paris, France - Internet Only - in progress betting
set must be completed for action
    Tue 6/3 251 M.Raonic Wins 2nd Set +333
    9:30AM 252 N.Djokovic Wins 2nd Set -415
tie break must be completed for action
Tue 6/3 251 M.Raonic wins first set tie break +169
    9:30AM 252 N.Djokovic wins first set tie break -198

trouble with 'live' betting is it's cloned from the same platform youwager, Heritage, and others use.

it was a huge win for gulbis' confidence going forward imo. people may have been overreacting, for sure, but it doesn't mean you aren't downplaying it.

Maybe I'm just a jerk, but if I was Birdy I'd try to find some way to upset Gulbis mentally at this point. We all kno what happens when Gulbis gets mentally frustrated.
