John Isner v. Ernests Gulbis discussion

A bit early on this one, but I'm passing on the late action tonight and have minimal interest in the tall odds in the Djokovic-Benneteau clash tomorrow, so let's get down to discussing this spicy matchup.

    Isner: 2.36 (+136)
    Gulbis: 1.67 (-150)

Which way are you leaning and, more importantly, WHY?

I like gulbis to take this, the lines are about right, will be a good contest.
If john has any let down on serve, set will be over.
Gulbis can nick the points needed in tie-break.
but i maybe wrong, but that's how i see it

I'm going to sit pretty on my Gulbis future. I like his chances against Isner and what's left of the scraps after that he'll brush off the table for lots of pure, uncut cash.

Their last clash in Valencia was crazy.

Isner wasted 10 break points, Gulbis wasted 8 break points.

Gulbis was so moody that day, too many tantrums. Isner won in 2 tiebreaks 7-4 and 7-2. Tomorrow's game can really be a nerve test

I like this to go 3 sets and Gulbis to eventually win it.

Looks like the perfect match for a 7-6 6-7 7-6.
Tough to say who wins:Isner can't defend and Gulbis simply does now want to.Over 1.5 tiebreaks in match and over 25.5 games look great.
Btw, any bookie offering odds for over 1.5 tiebreaks?

most likely not but if you have access to live betting, you could just bet o12.5 games in every set

Gulbis is clearly the well-deserved favorite in this match. I am worried about his pains though. Hopefully two days off have done wonders for him.

betfair sportsbook is shit, not many options and bad prices.
they offer only over 25.5 at 1.8 and under 1.9.
over 12.5 games for sets is 2.25
    tie-break 1.36 , would prefer 1.46
    not a good book

1st Gulbis serve Isner could not break from 0-30

2nd Gulbis serve Isner wasted 3 break points

3rd Gulbis serve Isner wasted 2 break points

Not sure if Gulbis will take the match.

Even Djokovic can't handle Isner's serve so this match was always coming down to tiebreaks.. As Hardcoar put it, tennis is all about winning the points that matter, and because we all know Isner is one the best in the business getting in those unreturnable serves in tiebreaks, to me 2.25 was good value.
