The overall record is 6-5 in main tour events. Abu Dhabi doesn't count, it's an exhibition. What's interesting is the surface split: Nadal 4-0 on clay, but Davydenko is 4-0 on outdoor hard courts, 2-1 indoors. Two of these were masters finals also.

It's a matchup issue, Davydenko takes it early and flat like nobody else. On hard that takes away so much time from Nadal.

Of course there's no fixing involved. Fixing is the province of early rounds, where there's little prizemoney to lose. It's also something Davydenko has clearly avoided since 2007.

Davydenko was a beast in 2006-2008. Since 2009 he started to lose more and more. He went from playing SF/F against Nadal/Federer to losing in 1st round at Challengers against guys like Kavcic, Bogomolov, Sock etc. A lot of these matches were suspicious.

I agree that 2009 was the most successful year in his career. His level at the WTF was insane. However, In 2008 Davydenko was one of the top players. He was the man behind Federer and Nadal. In 2009 it was all about Djokovic and Murray as the next big thing.
