Nadal to fall victim to the Kokk?

Feel the Kokk... fear the Kokk!

I think it has a decent shot. Kid has a lot of heart. Lost the 2nd match of his first match 6-0 (it was a bad 6-0, Igor made Tennessee look silly) and he bounced back so he will keep fighting hard even if nadal bagels him the 1st set.

    Positives:

    Home crowd
    Fighter
    Decent serve

    Negatives:

    Little experience
    Nadal
    Return game
    17 y/o

I dont see him breaking Nadal. But can he hold serve 8 times ?

After some research it appears these 2 practice quite often with each other. I think I will be taking this bet.

Thought about this, but passing. Kokkanakis had cramping issues in the 1st round. I think crowd could work for or against him. Will be his first time playing @ Laver. If his serve can maintain though, this will have a shot. Just a question of consistency.

for anyone who dosnt know kokk has a serve around 205km wich is pretty good for his age. Nadal has never played him befor. If this was on centre stage I think kokk gets destroyed but he may have a chance on a side court

I think the only bet to take is under 26.5 as Nadal will look to wrap this up short and fast.

I'm an Australian and actually live in Melbourne so all the news around here is on the Oz Open and I have been watching a stack of tennis as there is a 2 channels basically dedicated to the open atm.

Kokk is a very gifted youngster and will provide plenty of success for Australian tennis in the future but at this current time against Nadal you can't back him to be consistent enough.

In an interview I watched him do yesterday he was stating how the conditions were hard to play in and that his legs were feeling heavy and that's when the cramping began to ensue in the second set. Nadal will run this kid all over the court and with his heavy top spin Kokk will be exhausted by the end of the first set.

    I am predicting a 6-1 6-2 6-2 scoreline

A well rested Nadal won't take any prisoners in this match vs a 17 year old playing in his first home grand slam who just endured a 4 set battle in the sweltering heat 2 days ago

Kokk will be very stiff, could barely walk at the end of his match with sijsling.

I took u27 at 1.89. Bought the hook in case he can grab a 6-4 set.

I love Kyrgios, but very concerned with his shoulder. If he was healthy, I would snatch that +200 or whatever it is in a heartbeat. He had to take a medical TO in his 1st rounder. He was able to push through, but I'm weary that it may continue to effect him negatively and his serve, his best weapon.

It's been a worry since before the season started. Obviously he has been able to manage it, but between that and the heat - it's a bigger crapshoot. I mean if he can manage it, he's about as untouchable on 1st serve as the most seasoned power server. Paire we also know has a habit of being disinterested or just playing a D level game on any night, so I think he's still got a shot.

This is a kid you gotta watch this year if he can stay healthy. I won some nice money on him last year on the few Challengers he played and Juniors at the AO. I am interested to see if he can work his way into some qualis in ATP level events.

Aussie papers have been laying down some lofty expectations on the state of Australian tennis with Kyrgios and Kokkanakis both showing some skill ... and HEART. They are easy to like vs. a schmoe like Tomic.

i was thinking with his big service games he would come out strong so a first set bet would be nice.

Not a bad idea. If the shoulder flares up, it probably comes mid-match. Of course with the delay, who knows when or if they get out there.

That's the part that would worry me about making bets on either of these matches. The media here go crazy and it's like they forget how young and relatively inexperienced these guys are. Even with Ebden. He's pissing and moaning today and it's like they build these guys up to a point where it almost seems like the players start to believe it a bit. They did the same thing to Tomic and of course have turned on him now but if he had pulled off a miracle against Nadal, they would've been so far up his ass they'd suffocate. Maybe I'm just being too pessimistic but I think it's a really big ask to expect a kid like Kokk to even take 5 games off of Nadal. Even ignoring the obvious gap in talent and experience, I think the hype of the occasion will overwhelm him. I'd love for him to prove me wrong though! Either way I think Aussie media needs to calm the f down a bit but of course that'll never happen.

Igor f'n Slising beat this kid 6-0... Now imagine being 17 y/o playing in front of 15 000 on Rod Laver.

No. I watched the match. He had cramps in the forth set. After he went up a break for 3-0. At 3/1 he had a medical time out during his service game.

Not as much as Americans. I'd take the future of Kokkanakis or Kyrgios against Jack Sock.

I would expect the 1st set to be tight as Rafa measures his serve. Maybe first two sets. Nadal will try to engage him in rallies I would think to expose his ground game and force the kid to make shots.
