Stan the Man Wawrinka is my dark horse for the Aussie Open

    +4500

He's in the same quarter as Djokovic, but if he gets by Djoker, he has got a good shot of winning the whole thing.

Berdych +2200 should get some consideration since he has a cakewalk with his draw.

For trading purposes he's value, but he doesn't have either the fitness, mental toughness, ability to grind and choose the right shot under pressure to lift a grandslam IMO.

Exceptional backhand mind you, but Novak and Rafa are currently too tough to beat over the course of a best of 5 set encounter IMO. Murray's the only most likely to upset their scheduled final, but even he isn't fully fit, match fit or match tight.

Wawrinka at those odds, take it with betfair and then trade the moment he runs into Nadal or Djokovic and potentially Murray, dependent on how he's playing.

Birdshit is a waste, wreckless under pressure and very little margin or error on his shots which means he needs Jerzy Janowciz type composure and balls (fearlessness) and he quite simply doesn't own that.

meets Djokovic at the quarters and Nadal at the final

Nadal has a tough draw, Tomic 1st rd , potential 3rd rounder with Monflis, Del Potro awaits him in the quarterfinals, then Federer in the semis

I played him at +5500 a few days ago.

Of all the matches Wawrinka looks back on and regrets a missed point here and there, I would think his 5 setter against Djoker at last year's AO is at the top of the list. Excellent motivation for him to start the year strong.

I actually think Wawrinka is going to have a breakthrough year in 2014. 2013 was a great year for him, with a strong finish. He looked great at Chennai, and seemed to just be fine tuning at Kooyong, hoping for a deep run at the AO. And it's a good year for it, considering Federer is not that dangerous anymore and Murray is not really back in the game yet, post-surgery. It won't take a lot for Stan to find himself in a SF and at least have a decent chance.

The other guy I like for the AO as a longshot in Gael Monfils. He's 100% healthy and has looked very crisp so far. He's got the talent to beat anyone when healthy if he can maintain focus. At +9000, I think he's worth a small play if he can just find his groove at the right time.

Don't overlook the Quarter Odds. People do it every Slam trying to hit something bigger. The Ferrer Quarter as usual will provide you with some good options usually - I know 5Dimes has these Futures, not sure what other books.

Judgement day is here Wawrinka future holders

there's no way to hedge it, going to tough for Stan with the big 4 still in it. Hopefully Wawrinka has a horse shoe up his ass today.

    Just saw this thread.
What sukks for me is I have $25 (that ticket I pasted is betpoints) on him but I thought I had him +4000. Just looked my bets up after this match over Joker and I have him +3300.
I bet it in November, he finished the year playing great tennis.
Little bit of a letdown because the other guy I bet was Ferrer at +4000 and I had the fkn lines mixed up.
But nevertheless, the sweat is on.

Bet10.....I think you certainly have to hedge something in this spot. Not sure what, but definitely a hedge of some sort is in order.

Im in the same boat. I will hedge a little bit on Birdy but I anticipate Birdy's line will improve closer to the match so I'll hold off on hedging yet

maybe 1.5 units on Birdshit, to get the original stakes back with a little payout

    if he advance

can anyone set the line vs his final opponents

    Nadal -400 or more range

Federrer and Murray around -150-200 range

    Dimitrov...Wawrinka will be the favorite

I have to decide how to hedge my future bets on Wawrinka ($65) and Berdych ($71) to win the Open.

Do I lay them both now, or just lay whomever makes the Final?

At +7000, why hedge either? The payout opportunity for both is huge, and you're guaranteed a big ticket on a side in the final. You're not going to miss the small loss of the cost of the losing ticket, so just sit tight and wait for the final. Maybe watch Wawa/Berdych and an opportunity will come up.

    Nice work on those tickets

I ended up scoring a free ticket to the semis tonight. I'm still a bit unsure how best to hedge my wawrinka outright bet. I was really hoping the line on Birdy's would get better but it has stayed steady.

Basically I have $40 on Stan to return 1500+

i was thinking of just betting Birdy so at least my stake will be covered , but my book has Birdy outright at +1050 so perhaps this may be the better option?

    any advice would be great
