    E. Bouchard (2.720) vs S. Stosur (1.524) - Hopman Cup - thoughts ............

do you guys think, bouchard can take this one?
stosur was impressive at the end of last season and is coached by miles maclagan now.
bouchard played very well herself and is about to reach at least top 15-20 this 2014 season.
well, its the hopman cup, first and irreleveant as well, tournament of the new season.
dont know, how fast the hard court(indoors) will actually be.
bouchard should at least make it close and bouchard + 3.5 at 1.850 odds lokks very nice.

do you guys have any thoughts on this one?
    please discuss...

Not worth the gamble to be honest. 1 break per set and the +3.5 is gone unless she can force a tie break/3rd set. Also its a nothing game imo so is a coin flip. Not worth the gamble unless you have an itch to make a play to start the season.

^ She lost 2 sets to 1 to Stosur towards the end of last season and Stosur had a storming finish.

No idea how you figure this one.

Mentally Stosur is a joke in Australia but that may change here, who knows. Just coz you hear of a girl with potential and an ageing player that has mental problems, doesn't mean you have to back the youngster.

If you put a gun to my head and said if you're wrong, the bullet leaves the chamber, I would go Stosur, but that';s if having to make a call.

Bouchard is mentally weak as well, she sprays errors on big points and gets down on herself when she misses opportunities.

By calling no bet here, you're winning long term, whether or not your initial suspicion is right.

i just personally think stosur is pathetic and one of the worst women tennis players in teh world. if you put a gun to my head and said if im wrong the bullet leaves the chamber, iw ould bet bouchard due to her higher potential.

since you are saying this game is 50/50. if you want to win long term, you bet on the player with the higher odds. which is bouchard.

    thanks for coming.

You think Stosur is the worst player in the world, yet she beat Serena Williams to lift the US Open crown a few years back.

    "In translation"

"I hate Sam Stosur, that stupid b**** has cost me tones of money over the last few years, everytime I bet her she chokes and loses and I won't do it anymore! NO! I am betting against that stupid @"@$"@@$"@"@@ everytime she plays a match against a half decent player or good prospect."

This is the mind that a losing, chasing, betting what they cannot afford to lose gambler typically has.

I hope you haven't a wife or kids and are young enough to take this hit and come back a stronger person, early enough so as you haven't sold your soul to the bookmaker.

    Thanks for coming.

In other words, Stosur can blow hot or cold and whether she's hot today is a complete coin toss. You're right it is 50/50 and you would be better off taking the underdog but you;d need to take that underdog in every match you make 50/50 from here till the end of the season. Otherwise doing it this one time could count for nothing.

I was simply offering my advice, but the ugly nature of your post made me inclined to expose how stupid you sounded by refering to a former grandslam champion as the worst player in the world.

    Again, thanks for coming.

Bro, when someone says, "thanks for coming" after I gave my opinion/advice/insight, they're gonna get it. Don't care.

I remember it as it was yesterday. Still i don't hate Sam, she looks like a good person. People need to learn how to deal with losses.
I find there are three basic steps to dealing with (gambling) loss:

    1. Never bet more money than you can accept losing.
    2. Never allow your bank-roll to depend upon one single result, by wagering too much on it.
    3. Don't allow losses to dictate your betting strategy or pattern, by going "all in", "chasing" or overall making larger, riskier, or even more plays.
