    My Awful Picks

    Greetings,

Some of you on here already know me. I used to post here on a regular basis, but I've been extremely busy over the last few months. I am fortunate to have more clients than ever, so it has cut into my free time.

In the meantime, I have continued to suck at gambling. I'm generating enough extra income to exclusively bet dogs and short favorites (-130 or less) for the hell of it. I've had success betting chalk before, but I've decided to change my approach now that I don't need to profit off gambling to keep the bills paid.

The purpose of this thread is to help out the SBR community, as they have helped me many times in the past. My plays will either be dogs or short favorites, with an occasional degenerate-style chalk parlay thrown in there if I feel like it. I'm not trying to make money, and I'm not working hard to come up with these picks, so I strongly suggest that you fade these. I believe it could make you money in the long term.

I may disappear for a few days at a time. If so, that's only because I'm buried with work. But I will return at some point to update the thread and add picks.

    Feb. 16, 2013:

    Play 1
    ATP Rotterdam
UNDER 22.5 -- Del Potro vs. Dimitrov

    Risk $100 to win $100

    Record YTD: 0-0
    Profit/Loss: $0.00

I only picked this because I have a feeling Dimitrov won't play well, which will allow Del Potro to catch early breaks in both sets and finish it in routine fashion. It's just a guess, so I imagine I will check the score tomorrow and see it went three sets with two tiebreaks. haha.

    Good luck.

I don't think it's a bad idea to take the two dogs in San Jose today and hope for a split. Querrey's match does not begin until this evening, though, so there's no reason to rush. If Isner takes the early match, I'll take the money and walk.

Not sure why I like Isner, but I'll take a shot at it anyway. Worst case scenario is I lose the money I made this morning.

Late-night degenerate action! Brisbane is probably going to kick Wellington's ass, but I can't lay that much chalk on an A-League match. I mean, it's A-League. What do you want me to do? I'll take a stab at the draw and hope I get lucky. So long, $50.

    Risking $100.00 to lose $100.00 ... or win $150.00 ... but I'll almost certainly lose $100.

Fade this and win. I have no idea why I'm betting Portuguese soccer, but I think this line has value. Obviously, that means it doesn't have value, and the match will end in a draw at best for Nacional. Good luck.

I'll have a fade-worthy pick for the San Jose ATP final later. I wasn't interested in betting Del Po-Benny or backing what's left of Nadal against Karate Kick Dave. You never know when Nadal's knee will go out again, plus Nalbandian is likely to lose his cool, go into the stands and punch a tournament official because he's upset over a double fault or an unforced error.

I planned to post a pick for the Raonic-Haas matched earlier, but I got caught up with some other stuff. Here's a second-half bet on the USC-Cal game, if you're into late-night degenerate action like me. I have no idea what I'm doing here, so I expect a huge Cal comeback in the second half.

Hope you laid the 7 on Cal second half, because USC completely fell apart and blew a 10-point lead. That Crabbe kid who plays for Cal was unconscious down the stretch. I'm the Charlotte Bobcats of gambling. Here's another loser for tomorrow morning:

Congrats on the victory, swiss. Fading me should produce a hefty profit in the short and long term. I gamble simply for entertainment these days, as I rarely have the proper amount of time needed to study most matches/games. I am absolutely clueless. But I live a rather boring and lonely life, and sports gambling is a hobby that helps take my mind off my social shortcomings.

That's enough of that talk for now, though. Here's another losing pick for tomorrow.

I love to fade Tomic. You never know when the guy is going to decide he'd rather have a good time than advance in a tournament. He still isn't showing the hunger and consistency that a guy with his potential needs to reach greater heights. Dev Varman doesn't do anything that amazes me, but he's fighting to climb the rankings and will probably take this match more seriously than Tomic.

With that said, the reality of the matter is I lose almost all the time now. If my money is on the underdog, I imagine Tomic will cruise to a comfortable straight-set victory. What better way to start my day than by losing $50?

Honestly, this is just some degenerate action. The Reds' road form is terrible, but I still think getting a half-goal at plus money is valuable. Take Wellington to beat Adelaide United tonight, and thank me later. I think my record speaks for itself. haha.

Adelaide is getting crushed on the road lately, but Wellington is at the bottom of the table for a reason. That's why I think Adelaide plus the hook has value.

But, as my record shows, I clearly suck at gambling. I can't lose every bet, though, so maybe the Reds can manage a draw.

As expected, Almagro chokes on the big points against a fellow Spaniard who has owned him throughout his career. We have a nice losing streak going here ...

I'm a little concerned that my skid could end with this bet, but that means nothing. This one will be decided on the pitch, and if you've been fading me lately, you've made a decent amount of money. Manchester United is the superior side, and they should win comfortably. But I suck at gambling, so I imagine Norwich City will lose by one or draw.

Well, Man United whipped Norwich to end my losing streak. It happens. Even a broken watch can be right at least once a day (Twice, if it doesn't have AM and PM). I have no idea what I'm doing, but sometimes my analysis is accidentally accurate.

On to the next loser ... Munich 1860 heads to Sandhausen today. I rarely bet German soccer. But I have a little free time, and I figured I'd take a shot on Munich. That likely means Sandhausen will win straight-up by multiple goals.

A draw would burn my money, as well, so perhaps Sandhausen DNB is the way to go here if you want to fade me. All I know is I bet Munich moneyline, which means this is a match Munich probably won't come close to winning.

Edit: Losing picks for Indian Wells are on the way ... Unless I get buried with work. So far, the coast is clear. haha.

The Jazz will have their work cut out for them in Chicago, but the Lakers and Dubs should cruise to comfortable victories. The Lakers, in particular, have no excuse for losing tonight. Things have calmed down for me over the last few days, so I finally have a little time to burn money on gambling. I should have a losing pick or two for tomorrow's tennis slate later this evening. I think grass is my worst surface in terms of betting results, so this is a great time to fade my picks.

I'll be rooting for the A's to complete a sweep of the Yankees this afternoon, but I fully expect the Yankees to win this game. My record is sufficient proof to convince you that fading me is a great idea.

    Good luck.

That A's game was insane. I watched only a few outs, but apparently Oakland needed 18 innings to pull out the win. So much for a get-away game ... It's nice to win a bet for a change, but I apologize if you faded me.

Here's my platter of ATP picks for Friday. I took three dogs, but Hewitt and Kudla are just stabs in the dark. I imagine Del Po will paste Hewitt, but the odds seem a bit suspicious despite Del Po's fitness and Hewitt's grass-court prowess. Haas likely holds serve (not literally) at home against Monfils, but I'll take my chances on the player with less pressure rather than lay that much juice.

I suppose we'll assess the damage tomorrow. Best of luck to all.

This is a total degenerate play. I know Tahiti is awful and shouldn't be playing with the big boys, but I don't know much about Nigeria. The Super Eagles are the top squad in Africa, taking the Africa Cup of Nations crown earlier this year. I just can't see how Tahiti keeps up, but I could also see a scenario in which Nigeria nets a pair of early goals and just coasts to a 2-0 or 3-1 win. After all, is there really a need for Nigeria to rub it in Tahiti's face?

With all that said, Tahiti +3 is probably the winning side here. Time to kick back and watch my money burn.

Just threw these bets together without much thought. Like any pick I post, I would advise you to not tail these. Tomic is an auto-fade for me. I like what Llodra and Flodonis can do on grass. I like Hernych's form compared to Goffin's. This could get ugly for me, but maybe I can catch a break or two.

    Stay up, fellas ...

I could've went 2-2 today and dropped only $10 had Paire limped through a set with Llodra, but I understand why he decided to call it quits early in the first set. Oh well. At least it was good news for those who went against my horrible predictions, assuming their books push ML bets for matches that never reach the completion of the first set.

Here's more fade material for tomorrow's ATP action ...
