Verdasco Just Got Defeated at odds of $1.01 to a player ranked 1116th!

    True story: 4-6 7-6 4-6.

Strangely before the match the other guys odds were $33, right before start time they drifted down to $17.

Seems fishy to me. Someone knew something.

Obvious, simple explanation...Verdasco, for whatever reason, just needed a few quick $$$.

Why was he playing a challenger =S

I read that if he made the final of the challenger he would get a cash bonus.

Also Volandri just lost to Kapcic - a very poor performance by the Italian. I cashed @5 x money

Verdasco can be a bum. I deliberately waited to see how the match would start. Was eying the other guy at +7.5. When he was up 2:1 in the first I finally took him at +5.5, and later to win outright at 4:1.

no reason for verdasco to play challengers unless there's something shady going on

It's because of the Olympics. Top 4 go. He's #4 but Granollers is close behind especially after he went further in the French than Verdasco.

Tournament was in Slovakia and the guy he lost to is Slovakian, so guess it all makes sense.
