Thats way off, Federer dominated the US open for 4 straight years and look at his record in July and August from 2004-2009.

When you get a guy like Federer playing at that level or the way Djokovic is playing right now, they can be almost impossible to stop on hard courts. Djokovic actually has a tough draw at The Rogers cup but he should make it through here at Montreal and will be a heavy favorite to win the US Open.

The point is that Rafa Nadal has never really liked the US Open.

Raffy cannot win easy points off his serve and that is going to hurt him the rest of his career

This whole year guys are battling him much more and taking him deep into games

THis guy was clearly better than Raffy, aslo Raffy not hitting deep flat shots enough way too much high hitting top spin short balls and opponents are teeing off on them

This should not have been a complete shock. Nadal had talked about not knowing what to expect with the foot injury coming into this tournament with zero preparation. Murray's loss was much more shocking.

Maybe physically from an injury standpoint, but fitness-wise .. I don't think he was in the best shape for this tournament. Credit to Dodig for sure, but I think you saw as the match wore on that Rafa maybe wasn't quite prepared to grind for three sets yet.

Guy needs to retire, he is starting to struggle now vs top 15 players

He also cannot win close matches, nerves finally getting him and no reason for it

Yeah, he should retire now, would hate to see him tarnish his legacy by playing on for a few more years.
It is not like he needs the money, guy can do Gillette ads for the rest of his life.

When a guy like Tsonga beats him 2x in a row he needs to really day end if this year and it is over

Of course he is still good but now really showing signs he could be done.

You do not watch tennis you think he does big try on non majors

It does not work that way in tennis

He plays every match like it was his last

He has been un lots of finals this year which are non majors

When the fukk has Nadal ever OUTSLUGGED someone?

Last summer, he concentrated a little more on adding to his serving speed to win the US Open ... but that's not his game, we know this. Serving has and always will be his weakest aspect. He's not a power guy. He tries to outwork guys, period.
