    help for a newbie

Im fairly new to sports betting. can somone tell me if this is a decent bet or a dumb bet (and why)

I want to bet on three players to win the wimbledon. here is what i want to do:

Novak Djokovic +225 risk 150.00 to win 337.50
    Nadal +135 risk 200.00 to win 270.00
    Tsonga +550 rick 100.00 to win 550.00

Basicly betting 450.00 on Murray to NOT win.

Im a big tennis fan and I hate overlooking Andy but these really are my top 3 to win it. I think this is also a good bet beacuse I believe Murray has the toughest road. he will have to most likly beat nadal and novak for my bet to not come through.

Any thoughts on this type of bet would be helpfull... Thanks in Advance

So the only way you can win money is by having Tsonga win...but you wouldn't win as much as if you just bet him by himself. Yeah, not a good bet.

Your bet should be more like this if you believe Murray will not win.
    Djokovic +225 108.46/244
    Nadal +135 150/202.5
    Tsonga +550 54.23/298.26

    total profit of $39.81

    Murray wins your screwed

Where did these come from? ... how do i do the math to translate all three of those plus bets and compare it to murray like you did into one big minus bet?

No you don't. You're playing 400 total. You "win" 337.50 if Djokavic wins, netting -62.50. You "win" 270 on Nadal, netting -130 and you "win" 550 if Tsonga wins, so in this case you do actually net 150 but if you just played him and not risk losing money by winning with the other guys then you would have won 550.

Im risking a total of 450... and i get the money i "risk" back if it wins... on all three of the bets the risk plus reward is more than 450

how am I not understanding this...

Yeah you're right my bad. Anyway I'm not sure why you'd want to bet 450 to win 20 or 37.50. As noted if Murray wins you're fukked. And the point still stands. If you wanna play this you're better off playing Tsonga on his own.

You could risk 450 to win 37.50 your way or do what I said and risk 450 to win 80ish

As in by himself. You're okay with risking 450 to win 20 or 37.50? You're basically turning Nadal into -2200

Risking 450 to win only 30 is not smart and you will eventually lose everything betting like that I'd put 450 on nadal v murray since you think murray has no shot better odds.

If you are simply against Murray, you could just take Nadal today at -185... $225 to win $121. Then you still have $225 to bet against Murray tomorrow if he happens to get up against Nadal.

And if he ends up in the final against Tsonga, you will get good enough odds on the Frenchman to win more than your current potential $200 profit backing Tsonga with the remaining $225 then anyway.

Yes, he is right. The price for the outright is also priced correctly, therefore, no point in spreading your bets.
