    La Monf

    Gael Monfils is an unfundamentally sound tennis player with no strategy for most of his matches. But, could that be a reason that David Ferrer has not been able to beat him in two career meetings?

    LaMonf beat Ferrer in a five set Davis Cup thrill ride last Fall on an indoor surface & then beat him in four sets at the French Open in 2008.

    Nothing suggests Monfils has the form currently to beat an in-form Ferrer, but Ferrer has often found himself on the wrong end of losses @ RG before advancing very deep.

    Melzer whipped Ferrer in straights last year.
    Soderling beat him in the 3rd round in 2009 - although that was Soderling's breakout.
    Lost to Monfils in 2008 in the QF.
    Lost to Verdasco in four sets in 2007 in the 3rd.
    Lost in straights in 2006 to Ramirez-Hidalgo in the 3rd.
    Lost in straights to Nadal in 2005.
    Lost in the 2nd round to Benneteau in 2004.
    Lost in the 2nd round to Ferreira in 2003.
    Failed to qualify in 2002.

    This is a fukking stupid fukking wager. I am 0-7 in the last two days. But there is something that this idiot does that throws off Ferrer. I dunno. Take this information for what it's worth. I just think this jackass is going to do something weird tomorrow ... don't know if weird is a win or retiring with a torn vagina, but you heard it here ... La Monf is a wack job.

    actually was thinking of trying this myself, EP. Should be a fun one if anything. Love getting Monfils as a big dog he has the abilty to beat the top guys and as you said is 2-0 vs Ferrer

    you will be 0-8 on your last 8 plays no offense...the only reason the price is even ONLY -380 is bc of their past head to head.

    The only thing Monfils has on Ferrer is a big serve. With Ferrer being the 2nd best returner in the game (to nole) and it being on clay, this shouldn't play a huge role. Oh, but the new balls you say? That's really not gonna matter enough... Ferrer's consistency from the baseline will be too much for Monfils

    i am also on Ferrer over Monfils, Monfils has no consisteny this year, Ferrer will sweep him of i think, some small stake may be put on Ferrer 3-0 and Ferrer 3-1 set score

    Not surprised Ferrer is about to take the 2nd set, probably 6-3 if both hold - which is not a given. Monfils blew a triple break point opp on Ferrer's last service game.

    Yeah. I'm expecting La Monf to mentally check out in the 4th and just get crushed. At least there's no false hope. 0-10 for the last three days. I'm going for an even dozen before I retire on Monday.

    Big break back. Monfils really has had a lot of opportunities on Ferrer's serve to break. Not converting nearly enough. That's where Ferrer is getting him. Monfils has only handed out 5 break opps to Ferrer's 14. Ferrer though converted all 5. Monfils only 4.

    Have a feeling that this set is for the match as far as Monfils is concerned. If he loses it, I think he cracks totally. If he wins it, confidence should be sky high. If this does go 5 ... I doubt it's gonna finish today. That'd be like another hour and a half on-court and it's almost 9pm there. I think the Djokovic-DelPo match stretched to 9:30 before darkness suspended it.

    I wish I had an out that had live set-betting. The best wagers in tennis would be to go against anyone from France in the second set after they win the first. Monfils, Tsonga, Bartoli.... all of them have a habit of getting killed in set 2 if they win set 1.
