    Online Gambling Laws in Africa

I am being given the opportunity to take a year-long business trip to Djibouti. Anyone know anything about Djibouti's laws on internet sports betting?

Didn't Africa just legalize offshore gambling recently?

Africa is a continent, not a country.

I would imagine the individual countries have their own laws.

If Djibouti is Muslim forget about gambling over there. They cut the hands of gamblers over there.

    Some unusual advice there, thanks.
There are a few B&M casinos in Djibouti. I think they are Russian owned. Pictures I could find make them look small and uninviting. I don't find anything on internet gambling, though.

You should have no problems using your US based accounts, unless the gov't blocks access to gambling websites. Even then you can set up a secure VPN address in the states and log in through that.

I didnt know they had laws in the continent of Africa? Unless murder, rape, mutilate, and pillage are laws, i think you will be ok making sports bets. Enjoy your trip!

Gambling from Africa is great, not many countries have laws concerning this industry, only the more developed ones like South Africa, Botswana, Egypt do. I have no idea of Djibouti but I really, really doubt it. I see nothing to impede you from gambling online. A company reference letter and foreign documents should be enough to set up bank accounts, from a brief read I see they route most of their wires to France, which you shouldn't have any trouble with concerning gambling transactions.

Forget that its a Muslim nation, there's pretty much nothing they can do to you unless you are going to be booking action in a street corner. Many syndicates operate from Africa, including from countries like Morrocco, and specially, Algeria.

Well, actually in might be a pain in the butt getting back Neteller if you previously had them in the US, its not that easy to convince them that you are there for the long haul. I've heard some cases where they have denied some folks even with the foreign documentation. If I were you I would just skip from trying to get Neteller back, plus Neteller doesn't service some less developed countries. I would just focus on getting Moneybookers if available or preferably Int Bank Wires.

Here's to you being as smart as I hope you are. But as RJ points out, its not the end of the world if I get declined, and there are several really good options if Neteller does not happen.

How much do you think the average Djiboutian would charge to let me steal his identity and set up accounts in his name?

JOKING! I think deviously, but rarely act deviously.

I know an Ethiopian Jew who has been there. It's a third world African nation. As of 2000, there was one telephone line for every 60 people. I highly doubt Djbouti has any internet regulations. You could traffic kiddie porn and get away with it.

No, they think we are idiots because #1 we go to other countries and all we worry about is where we can gamble away our money and #2 we give a **** what others countries think of us. Why do you liberal pussies care what others think of us? Those places dont have crazies trying to blow them up everyday so why should they get on the bad side of the crazies?
