Are wires really the best option when moving big money

Like 20-25k all at once.... Are wires the preferred method to move that much around?

No. A $25,000 wire is nothing to a bank. It's a small transaction. 12 $2,000 wires to the same place might "throw up red flags", but that's irrelevant if you are paying your taxes. If you aren't, it doesn't matter if you are sending $100,000 wires, or $250 moneygrams, you are asking for trouble.
