Curious how Bookmaker and other outs can figure out who is who by reading this board. People must be posting chat transcripts or very specific information. That, or... Nah, can't be.

Now I will agree with Sawyer in saying that the lines at BM are below average and reason enough to limit plays there. I play about 10% of my plays there this time of year I think, and go weeks at a time during baseball season and never place a bet at BM.

Well if you like to play CBB totals and MLB they are really not an option.

I think a lot of the hatred originates from the fact that when Pinnacle pulled out of the US a lot of us came to really depend on Bookmaker. Now they have taken on a business model that is making them a lot closer to the BOS/Bodog/MVP type of rec books.

As I said in another thread if you want to play NFL, NBA or CBB sides at -110 there is nothing wrong with them. They just need to change their motto from "where the line originates" to "if you're not square we don't care".

I wonder how long those vaunted "openers" will continue be at BM. The trends indicate they won't be around much longer.

I will acknowledge that but I think you will also acknowledge this book is nowhere near where they were 2-3 years ago. The mere fact that SBR moderators step into a thread to defend BM is telling. In the past BM scoured these forums resolving issues, answering questions and defending themselves. At present there are 3 threads current criticizing them and not one company poster has appeared.

Aside from a few major sports their odds are non bettable to a degree that would make Calvin Ayre blush. On top of that they nibble and qibble on these nusiance fees that do nothing but irritate their customers. To what end?

The major challenge of any bookmaker is to attract volume with the belief in skill of the oddsmaker and the power of -110. By attempting to cherry pick markets and customers they reject the very tenet upon which bookmaking is based. While they have gotten beaten pretty badly on CBB totals the past few years, this year the players have not done very well. Where is BM to recoup their losses? Largely sitting out the game. What is next? If the public crushes NFL for a couple fo years will they move to -120?

For every winning player they manage to tick off they lose 4-5 more who perceive themselves to be winning players. How do they counter? Increasing bonuses, reward points and aggressive cold calling.

So no sweat on a 6 figure pay out here. That is true. But exactly what is their end game? Because I see a very successful Pinnacle on one end of the spectrum and I see BM moving to the other end. And we all know where that end inevitably lands.
