If you came into some money (5-6 figures) there's so many more better things to do with it than to gamble.

If you really know what your doing you should be withdrawing 5-6 figures, not depositing it.

sure, but that requires a decent bankroll to be invested first, just like any of the other investments you were referring to

good to see someone else on here betting at the best books

I don't bet as high as that per hand but frequently have a bunch of bets which requires at 5 figure balance to fund

As long as you know what your doing (financially as well as handicapping) then you statement(s) are correct.

it depends on what 5-6 figs mean to you. i wouldn't put them into costa rica outfits.
your money would probably be safe at many uk / euro and oz bookies, but if you know what you're doing, you'll only be able to use pinny and BetFair.

Problem is, with many books there can be no signs before it goes belly up. Some of them get heavily into debt then just collapse hard, and of course the big depositer is the one they won't be able to pay.

Do not put Pinny in the same sentence as Betfair, the past showed that Betfair would have the mentality to simply take some cash away. This is not BF hating, it is just the truth..unlikely, but you surely cannot trust them as blindly as you could with Pinnacle or theGreek.

No it is not the truth.
Simply scare mongering by the ignorant getting their knickers knotted over some casino scalpers getting a raw deal.
I'm quite happy to have my largest balance (closer to 6 than 5 figures) at Betfair's exchange.
Been with them for close to a decade and never once had any cause for concern. There would hardly be a safer place in the online gambling world.

Yea you never had a problem, others did.

    You have NFI Monte

Look Hareeba, we all understand that you are a happy arber thanks to BetFair and that you would love to keep doing it for years to come.
But most ppl also know that BF does not have a reputation that is as excellent as Pinny/Greek, there have been a lot of cases about pissed ppl at Betfair (and yes, in those lovely arb forums as well, it went as far as arbers wanting to give outfits like betdaq a chance instead).

Now you can go on spreading the word how great Betfair is. They sure are, for what you are doing.
But because there is no competetion for soccer/tennis.
Pinnacle comes through no matter what competition they would get, and even theGreek with their juice lines.
Because they have a reputation that is so far above Betfair, even you should understand it.

As I said Monte, you have NFI.

    ABSOLUTELY NFI.

    I AM NOT AN ARBER!

I shop very keenly for prices and over the course of a year I place more bets and more money on tennis and soccer at Betfair than I do at Pinnacle..... BECAUSE THEY FREQUENTLY HAVE BETTER PRICES AND MORE MARKETS.

BETFAIR'S REPUTATION IS SECOND TO NONE once you get away from the lies and misinformation that you and a handful of others like to keep sprouting.

So, Monte, as I've said ABSOLUTELY NFI!

Betfair would be the only one I could keep 6 figures in (I do not need 6 figures there though, but hypothetically)
Pinny and Betfair for 5 figures.

Actually, I felt much safer about my money in BF than my money in bank when economy came crashing down.

With that kind of bankroll why not just bet at a land based casino in either Nevada or elsewhere?

I guess i dont talk the talk....but what does "5 or 6" figures mean? To me it means you have between $10,000 and $999,999. Shouldn't one be more specific if they are looking for advice on potentially such a large sum of money. For example, there are 5 or 6 books I would be comfortable with $10,000, but none for the larger balance.

Also, one poster says he's closer to 6 figures than to 5 figures. Not sure what that means either. Logically, it means the poster has over a million dollars, as if he had 6 figures you wouldn't say you are "close" to it.....so he has to have over a million.
