Happened to me about a month ago at an offshore that i thought was secure. It was 5dimes of all places. I ain't played there since. I made a deposit using **, I went on to 5dimes live chat and got the receiver name and destination after i gave them my account# and password, later i called them with the reference number they said it should be in the account within an hour, well it took two more phone calls after the hour and it was finally in there. Anyway i go to login to my account and it says my password was incorrect, i tried to login in several more times and it still said my password was incorrect. So i figured it might have something to do with the website so i call them give them my account number and password several times and they tell me it's incorrect. I automatically knew something was wrong. The password i had with them is the same one that i've had for years and i never changed it once. I asked them what my password is and they said they would need a copy of ID. I told them i shouldn't have to do that and explained the situation and they said they would do it just this once without my ID. They sent my an email with my password and low and behold the password was different than the one i had used for years. They however told me they have no record of the password being changed so i knew i was getting nowhere with them and hung up and just took my chances with the new password. Well, later that night i get an email from 5dimes saying "your moneybookers withdrawal cannot be processed" . Well the messed up thing is i never requested a moneybookers payout and the amount requested was for more money that what was in my account and why the hell would i request a payout the same day i made a deposit before even placing a wager. The only thing i can think of is my account was hacked. Could've happened through live or chat or have been an inside job i dunno. I lost all the money i had deposited on 1 wager so i didn't have to worry about anyone trying to steal my money but the Bottom line is if you think your account is safe at 5dimes think again. I thought mine was until this happened.

Everyone should change their pw at least once a week. It's a hassle but it is better to be safe then sorry.

It would be good, but isn't realistic. The truth is that any online password isn't 100% secure, but the most likely way it would get stolen is a virus or family/friends.

The books that demand your password in the online chat are the ones that deserve it. You're inviting hackers to access your account by posting your password freely like that, sportsbook employees too.

Well the messed up thing is i never requested a moneybookers payout and the amount requested was for more money that what was in my account and why the hell would i request a payout the same day i made a deposit before even placing a wager.

He does have recourse. The books hate fraud more than anyone, it cost them money. And, if the story is that it was requested through moneybookers, then moneybookers has ID on the culprit.

Lots of options here for the player. His money is still sitting in the account I assume. Unless of course he tried to pull his **....

But the OP claims that he deposited by **, then he got a note from 5 Dimes about the withdrawal request. He does not claim that his MB was hacked. Or that he even has a Moneybookers account.

I think it is a tale. A mixed up tale. Does he claim he has a Moneybookers account? If so, why is he depositing **? Much more difficult that depositing MB. If you can use MB, highly unlikely you would ever use **.

5D handled it very badly if what he has posted is true
They should have insisted on him identifying himself and reset the password rather than sending him the current one.
The OP should then have changed the password to something new himself and ensured his email matches his MB account address.
Sounds as though someone managed to change his password and details at 5D and then attempted a MB withdrawal.

I didn't have to give my PW, but mother's maiden name, city of birth, and maybe two other questions as well. The employee totally could have everything *but* my password. Any cause for concern?

I am just arguing here that the OP's post doesn't make sense. He doesn't even claim to have a moneybookers. Why would anyone be so stupid as to think 5 Dimes would allow a Moneybookers withdrawal when they person has never deposited that way?

They wouldn't do that. Almost all books have a rule that you can only withdraw with a method you used to deposit.

no, that is the correct way for it to be done - as it is by banks and the best bookies
nobody should ask you for your password or be able to access it
those security questions should not permit anyone to actually access your account for betting or withdrawal

Do you use 5 dimes by any chance? They ask for a account number and password for every question you ask them. Theres also no way for you to change your own password. Seems very unsafe.

The Greek has a login and password that you dont have to give out and they simply ask for your account number and wagering ID which is a separate thing. Much much safer. What if they have a rogue employee or your account is some how hacked. This is the only book I use that is like this.

That's the crazy thing about it. I don't even have a moneybookers account. My password was changed and they need a copy of your ID to change it so i don't understand how my password got changed and to add to that later that night a letter from 5dimes says my moneybookers withdrawal could not be processed because it's not an option for united state players.. I don't know how this all happened, even if live chat was not secure and someone got my account# and password they still need my ID to change my password. Really weird shit but i'm done for sure at 5dimes and that used to be my favorite book

When i explained everything to them on the phone they acted like nothing at all happened.. i'm not a fukn idiot though, i know what my original password was cause i've used it there for years and all of a sudden that one day it was changed. Could you help me out?

1) You say your original password was changed. Do you have the "new" password now? Have you changed it again so only you know it?
2) Do you have a moneybookers? What was the e-mail addy on the moneybookers who tried to access your account? Did it match yours? Has this attempt a fraud been reported to Moneybookers yet? Hint: It should.
3) I assume at this point you are not out any money, and back in control of your account. Is this true?

not a lot
just nuisance hackers who somehow managed to get hold of login details and placed bets from different parts of the world, mostly losing but not at suspicious odds
it seems they didn't profit by it because they couldn't withdraw to their own accounts and Betfair advised that they weren't matching bets on accounts which would appear to be associated with the hackers.
but they did in one instance deposit ex the hacked player's Neteller account into Betfair!
