"One of the more surprising findings from the report was that only 45 percent of people view gambling as "perfectly acceptable for anyone," down from 57 percent in 2003. Those figures, derived from a poll conducted for the AGA in February by pollster Peter D. Hart, imply that the public is not as comfortable with gambling as it used to be."
That is a huge drop, and probably kills any chance of on line gaming being leaglized in this country in the near future. Any politician favoring such action is facing defeat this year, and probably in 2012, unless he/she is in a very safe district.
This report, along with others, seems to indicate that the U.S. is going to get a lot tougher on off shore casinos and books. It is going to be harder and harder to transfer funds between your bank and these books. Basically, the Feds can close down any off shore book to Americans that it chooses to, for a large number of reasons. Plan ahead people. You are now in the minority, and with Conservative gains in Congress imminent, things are going to get worse, not better, for the off shore gaming industry.
