[RESOLVED] Help with a betonline Issue

MOD EDIT: Poster was proven to be a scammer. And a pretty poor one at that.

Hi all, I'm having an issue with a sportsbook betonline and am not sure if this is the place to come to for help or not.

1st, i wouldn't say i'm completely new to sportsbetting. I live in a state where sports betting became legalized about a year ago. I have wagered with draftkings sportsbook a little bit over the last year.

About a month ago, a friend (who does alot more gambling than me) asked me to open an acct with a sportsbook called betonline and sent me a link to do so. He said that betonline was running a contest to see who could refer the most new customers and he was trying to win either money or a prize of some sort. Since i hadn't heard of betonline before, i was a little apprehensive but ended up doing it anyway and i deposited $100. Over the course of the last month, the balance increased to approx $1400. I tried to log in last week and all of a sudden, was unable to. I tried again the next day and same thing.

I then received an email saying that my acct has been permenantly closed due to "unethical behavior". I'm honestly not sure what this even means. I tried to go onto live chat and I tried to call them several times and got nowhere.

Can this site find out any info for me and more importantly get my acct re-opened and/or cashed out. I filled out a complaint form here back on Monday but haven't heard anything since.

I'm really kicking myself for even getting involved in this. Should have trusted my instincts.

    What do you mean by:
I tried to go onto live chat and I tried to call them several times and got nowhere.

Did you not reach anyone? If you did, what did they say? I don't remember any sign up contest. Your friend was probably just trying to get referral bonus money. In fact, I'm thinking the problem might be somewhere therein.

Sorry, I should have specified. The person who answered the phone at betonline told me there was nothing he could do and my acct would remain closed. They wouldn't even tell me what i did that was "unethical". Then i asked for a manager and was put on hold for 30 minutes, then ultimately just disconnected without anyone coming back to the phone.

This happened 3 times over 2 days.

BOL are generally a very solid book.

    However:

The main issues with BOL appear to be:

    - If you have logged in from an IP that is shared with one or more existing (or historical) BOL customers
    - If you have logged in from someone else's device and that person also has a BOL account - or vice versa
    - You have used a VPN at any time to access the site

Do any of the above (potentially) apply to you?

Edit - I do not recall BOL describing the IP issues above as "unethical". It is more likely somehow associated with the "refer a friend" issue as DTM suggests.

I believe I only ever logged in from my cell. I certainly didn't log in from my work because i can't risk going on these types of sites from work.

Actually i may have logged in once from my boyfriends cell, but he doesn't have an account at betonline. He actually warned me against depositing in the first place.

Boyfriend...are you a female by any chance? If BOL has reasons to suspect you of referral bonus fraud, that's probably not going to help.

This wins the award for the Bizzaro thread of the month. You never heard of BOL (OK LOL) Why on earth would your Boyfriend warn you about depositing to one of the best long standing books? Let me tell you my version of what is the most likely scenerio here. Hi I am actually a guy and used my girlfriends Info to multi account for bonus abuse. I got lucky and hit a few bulit my roll but then they caught me. Sound about right OP

I am female, yes. Do you think that raises a red flag? I play blackjack and roulette all the time at a casino near me and no one ever looks at me funny. I didn't think that would be an issue.

You couldn't be more wrong. Yes, my bf warned me against depositing with a place neither of us had heard of and to a place not even in the US.

I'm glad you feel the need to kick a person when they're down though.

It doesn't prove anything. Heck my friend's mother legitimately loves betting on sports (and MyBookie tried stealing her money for almost a year). But probability says that if you're playing at an offshore sportsbook, it's overwhelmingly likely that you're a guy, although there are always exceptions.

I doubt very much that BOL would discriminate on sex alone. They'd have to have something else on you. And they're a highly reputable book, so I assume that they do (or at least they think they do).

It's 1.4K so it definitely must be pursued.

I suggest you log a complaint here with SBR (Optional can help you when he sees this thread).

I would imagine that during the resolution process you'll probably be required to give some kind of details re: the referrer.

If it turns out that the referrer is a bad actor and you are not then ultimately you should probably be able to win this - even if it takes some time.

If I were you, I would invest 15 minutes in reading BOL t&c from start to finish. You may find some terms in there that cover some act that you have performed that is contrary to their t&c.

I recall that when I first started sports betting I was surprised by certain t&c [some industry standard, some not] that I now take for granted as "obvious".

My suspicion is that since OP was so careful to tell a detailed outline about how the referral process played out, your answer is in there. That part of the story is kind of irrelevant, unless you're trying to proactively address something.

Thanks for this info. Any idea how to contact Optional?

Also, i just read the t&c and re-read the email they sent me. The email talks about multi-accounting and me comprimising the fairness of play. And it talks about them closing all duplicate accounts.

My friend was obviously trying to refer as many people as he could because he claims there was some sort of contest. But what I'm not understanding is what those accounts have to do with me and why my money is being taken from me. HE also told me they closed his account too, although he said he had no money in it....so I'm the only one who loses their money.

Absolutely not. I never logged in from his computer or his wifi. We live a half hour away from each other.

My boyfriend thinks he must have done something on his end that is now screwing me, but he is denying it. I'm just not sure where to go from here....

Amazing how almost every so called complaint about account suspensions at BOL involve a "friend" "referal" "significant other" or "sleep"
These books have high tech security departments and they know whats legit a referral account is and what bonus abuse multi accounts is....Few grand winning BOL doesn't care about its the cheating bonus abuse they don't tolerate

    Yes, their email mentions multi-accounting.

I still don't understand what i did wrong. Was I not allowed to open an account if he referred me?

It sounds like your friend may have broken the terms of their affiliate agreement, maybe generating fake signups, maybe using multi accounts themselves.

You being Female would immediately raise an extra red flag, as so many males use family/GF IDs to make multi accounts.

If you have bet on the same things as the person who referred you that would also add to the suspicion.

Thank you optional. I knew when my friend said if I deposit $100, I would get a $100 freebet, that if it sounded too good to be true, that it probably was. On draftkings, they really don't give you anything for free. They just give you enhanced odds boosts, but certainly nothing like this.

Also, with so many games to bet on, I highly highly doubt we wagered on the same things, but I'm sure that is easy to review.

The free play bonus is real and is not too good to be true. It comes with strings attached if you read the terms. You promise to bet X amount of dollars before you're able to cash out - at BOL it's usually something like 15 times your deposit plus your bonus amount, I think. Since 99% of sports bettors lose, this requirement makes it so that most bettors lose the bonus back to BetOnline and then some before they're done. Some people choose to reject the bonus for this reason.

And, oh yeah, I forgot there was a BetOnline referral contest. So your buddy wasn't only trying for referral bonus money, but also up to $4,000 in prize money if he won.

    https://www.betonline.ag/referafriendcontest

He probably got over eager and broke some rules. If you're innocent and just got caught up in his unethical shenanigans, then I hope everything works out for you.

I no longer use BOL for the simple fact that I made a mediocre deposit. Made a few bucks. Wanted to withdraw but they said I had to bet my full deposit before I could.

Essentially a 1x rollover on your own goddam money.

Domestic books the way to go.

I wasn't. I called 3 times. All 3 times their normal customer service rep put me on hold and told me to wait for a manager.

The first 2 times, i held for about a half hour and was disconnected.

The 3rd time i was put on hold, held for about 5 minutes and just gave up and hung up.

I've honestly never felt so disrespected by a customer service dept before. In my opinion, there are better ways to treat people.

I was going to come back on here today and see if sportsbookreview and/or the poster Optional has any info.

LOL Let me ask a question are you Patrick McIrish's house guest? LOL you guys are two peas in a pod. "Disrespected" everyone knows that many companies from Comcast to BOL first level CS sucks... Your best bet is to not post and have Opti or SBR try for you here IMO

I only bet sports before they locked me out of my account. Actually just baseball and basketball. There might have been a hockey bet in there too. Never played casino.

To answer your other question, we haven't gotten together or hung out in months, probably since last summer. The guy who referred me is actually my boyfriend's buddy, although we are friends too.

i am going to assume your boyfriend's buddy has red flags with other referrals and while you might be legit others are not, or appear to not be, legit. just my guess.

as others have said you might just be an innocent victim. hope you get your money if so.

So just a humorous update...It sounds like Optional and this site are trying to see why my money was confiscated and acct closed and are trying to get betonline to pay me....but in the mean time, I received the following email earlier today.

After receiving this email, I sent out a mass text to everyone in my contacts to see if anyone else would be interested in having their money confiscated as well....surprisingly there were no takers.

    Jenna,

Refer-a-friend before the end of the month and get an Extra $50 for each friend! Plus you still get your 200% up to $200 refer-a-friend bonus. You can get paid the extra $50 for up to 5 new friends, so don’t delay on up to an extra $250 available.
