    5Dimes Account Transfer (UPDATE)

Edit by SBR: We spoke with 5Dimes management. While unfortunate that this player reported this issue, a review of the facts revealed that his that his email was comprised and additionally a new device enrolled 2FA prior to the transfer of the casino. In order to enroll a new device using 2FA, a secure link and security code is emailed to the user. There is no way for anyone to do that without access to the player's email. There's nothing that the book can do here. Our advice is the player to set strong passwords for all of his email accounts and to secure his network.

Hello, can't believe that happened with 5Dimes which is highly rated book but yes, they stole me 730usd.

I should say that i haven't really used my 5D account for a couple of years already, so wanted to withdraw all remaining funds already in November 2019 but they asked for additional verification and i didn't have time for that back then.
P.S. It is my own account on my own name and i have never shared it with anyone, nor created any duplicate accounts.

So, today i logged in and to my surprise found out that balance is 0. In transaction history found this: 623958853 4/12/20 8:58pm -$736.00 $0.75 Transfer to Grand Casino - ID: 6880134

Well, i have never played casino there for sure and i didn't even know how to log in there until today. I was using 5D just for some occasional sports bets already some time ago. It seems to me that somebody had noticed that i havent really used my account lately and just decided to steal my funds. Well, not directly steal, all balance was lost on slots during 47minutes and no auto-play was used (i got the history from support). Also the IP originates from my country (Latvia) but is not even from my provider. Support said they can't see if VPN or any software was used (well, really?).

Maybe somebody has dealt with similar situations or know where to complain about this? Thanks!

    wow,,,

never used 5dimes but really hope you get your funds recovered.

But really surprising so many players seems to just not log in for long time although they have several hundred even thousands of dollar

    in the account.

Think it would be better if you have detected this issue earlier.

Well, I thought my funds are safe with A+ book...
Not so long time has passed actually - this happened on April 12 and I found out on April 30.

Never, ever had an issue even remotely close to this happen to me at 5dimes. In order to get into the grand casino you either use the web based version or the downloaded version. You have to enter your account number and password for both. Once in the casino, in order to transfer funds from the sportsbook to the casino you have to enter you account number and password again. It’s a huge pain in the ass, but for security purposes I don’t complain. That being said , 5dimes uses DBA, device based authentication, another PITA but again for security purposes. If what you said is true, someone not only has your account number and password at 5dimes but they have access to your email as well.
Your first post (red flag#1) is very suspicious, didn’t verify account because you didn’t have time (red flag#2), this statement “P.S. It is my own account on my own name and i have never shared it with anyone, nor created any duplicate accounts.” (Red flag#3), this statement “It seems to me that somebody had noticed that i havent really used my account lately and just decided to steal my funds.” Redflag#4. The only somebody you could be talking about is 5dimes. Throw in a few honestly, and to tell the truth next time.
If it weren’t your first post I would have more sympathy but the only two options I see are A) you couldn’t verify your account so decided to hatch this plan, B) someone unbeknownst to you, has access to your 5D account and password as well as your email account that you use with 5dimes. I highly doubt 5D’s gives a shit about your measly $736. You have to understand 5-6 posters try this exact same scheme every month and come screaming to SBR about it. Sometimes SBR actually gets it back but my money is on 5Dimes with this one.

Got a cheap price of -350 when I opened up this thread that the poster would have <25 posts and played a smaller wager at -125 that it would be a first post. Odds need to get sharper on these.

I do t even understand OP’s reason for including the part about account verification and not creating duplicates. It’s irrelevant to his claim of stolen funds and just screams motive.

I think u just think too much. How much 5D paid u? @PD77

And to all the wannabe smartasses i am not the only one having similar issue lately:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/sportsbook/...money_missing/

And yes, i registered to this forum just to post this because didn't need to use the forum before. 700$ may not sound much for highrollers but during these hard times every dime counts..

I would just ignore the noise if you're trying to find a resolution to this. Someone is always going to try to poke holes into these types of claims just because it has not happened to them.

Last year, my account was hacked at a well known agent. The hacker went to the agents chat, changed my registered e-mail address and then login password to the agents website, and then opened accounts at other books via the agent and then attempted to transfer a significant balance from one of my legitimate accounts over to those new books. This all occurred without verification to my existing e-mail account. A clear breakdown in security on their end.

Fortunately there was a secondary security protocol that the hacker was not able to pass when it came to moving funds and eventually the problem was discovered and resolved. I asked for additional measures following all new request from my account. The agent implemented these and then eventually increased their security procedures&protocol which I really appreciated and showed me that this agent is serious about the issue.

However I was very frustrated as the agent kept implying that I had shared my password which created this situation. I didn't understand this logic given that the agent told me that my password and e-mail had been changed by a chat method that I had never used. It was almost comical how many red flags occurred that the agent should have realized right away.

I offer this story just as an additional data point that this does in fact happen.

My advice: I would make sure you understand the various security protocols around transfers of funds and opening accounts. Should you have been notified via e-mail about the transfer? Is there a multi-factor authentication process? If so, did this happen.

As you say, 5dimes is an A+ rated book on SBR. Most of these have reasonable (but I wouldn't go as far as to say very robust) security provisions. If one of these security protocols did not occur, then you would definitely want to push further and escalate.

Thanks a lot for a constructive answer, really appreciate this! I just tried to transfer my remaining 1$ back and forth from Sportsbook to Gran Casino and vice verse and no e-mail was received about this. Only have to enter account number & casino password. Also double checked and no email for this April 14 transaction either.

@Optional - thank you, just submitted complaint.

I’ve had and have plenty of issues with 5dimes dimes so FU Pal. The list is long and well documented. And I’ve had plenty of issues with 5Dimes casino software but you know what? I settled everything with 5dimes myself. If you actually read this forum you would know your story is one of many with the exact same scam. Good luck getting your money, you’re going to need it.

the email is not generated when you move money from the casino to the sportsbook or vice versa. The email is generated when someone logs in to your 5D account from a computer or device that 5dimes does not recognize.

5dimes top notch, I highly doubt anyone over there hatched a plot to steal your 700 bucks.

So, your logic is that i lost this money myself on slots and now try to invent smth? A 4-year old should understand that such scheme wouldn't work. And please don't judge other people according to yourself!

I’m saying 9 out of 10 people that post your exact story are scammers. Maybe you’re the one out of ten that legitimately was ripped off, but your first post is all I have to judge you by. You have ZERO history. If you read this forum you might learn that the scam does indeed work if the book wants to make the problem go away. It just doesn’t work at 5dimes. I’m positive the scam has worked at Betonline. There are 100’s of stories just like yours on this forum, most are first time posters. Why does this rarely happen to anyone but first time posters?
So Ramzess10, let me ask you this, what do you think happened in your case? A hacker accessed your account? Rogue employee of the sportsbook? Perhaps it was someone in your own household or a frenemy getting even with you? Did you get too drunk and forget? Tell us one reason we should believe your story?

Hey PD77 I do agree with most of your logic but one idea that "why does this rarely happen to anyone but first time posters?"

Well have you ever thought people who get scammed have no where to turn and they find out this site and register to get help?

Not all the offshore gamblers in U.S are registered to SBR and post lol

In fact my guess is less than 1%.

Yeah, I'd love to know how a hacker would get past the 5Dimes new device authorization process. I occasionally even have to authorize devices that I've used many times in the past, when the system resets or something.

Yes, this is a good question, I have also thought about this. It could be a hacker but maybe more likely an employee of 5D or perhaps outsourced. Maybe someone having his last day at job and decided to leave in such way. Another question - who would benefit from playing down all balance in slots? Well, this is a tough one. The only thing I can imagine is this someone hoping for some big win or jackpot and then somehow withdraw the funds (maybe to another 5D account) and transfer the initial balance back. In such case I'd really won't have noticed. Probably that's why he chose an account with little activity. The jackpot didn't came and balance is down to zero but as he knew that this account is rarely used he assumed that it won't be noticed in nearest time.

Another reason why I thought about an employee - 5D support used to ask for my username & password during live chat. Ofc i thought it is strange but they said it was a normal procedure for them some time ago but now they changed to PIN authentication (I got chat transcript confirming this).

And yes, exactly - i have known this site for a long enough time but was only sometimes checking some bookies' rating and maybe see what other people say about it. Until now didn't have any reason to post anything.

Could it be someone that works there unhappy and just doing this to create havoc with as many accounts as they can before they quit . Or if someone got fired a way to get revenge taking a clients info with them and logging in with their info? It is just weird they played it all on slots they did not try and steal the money somehow they just wasted all the money on slots . Seems like it was someone who was mad that worked there . Can you see them doing this to a bunch of accounts it would create an uproar if it was a mad employee.

I also thought it was a disgruntled employee / former employee / a connection to a current employe that was behind my account breach. What you are saying is totally plausible but unfortunately you'll never know for certain even if 5dimes discovered that this was the case.

I'm eager to hear any additional feedback from 5dimes regarding your problem. Please keep the SBR community posted

    good luck getting your funds

i have no sympathy for 5 dimes. i was actually winning in their casino and had balance at 4K from a deposit of $200 around april of last year (with some sports betting winning also) but because of all the hoops I had to jump thru to get a payout I ended up still playing in the casino while waiting for the 3rd step of a phone call and losing in the casino. not blaming them for the loss cause i am a degenerate but their steps to get paid are ridiculous. so many other books are quick and fairer with payouts in my opinion.

The reason I don't think it's disgruntled employees behind this is because you see it happen waaaaay too often. And most books are very quick to credit back the lost funds as long as they can show that it wasn't done from your location(s). It's almost like they know what's going on.

My guess is occasional hacks/data leaks leading to credentials on the dark web. We know most of these books don't have the greatest security measures and given their frequent site issues aren't spending a ton of money on IT. My guess is black hats try to withdraw or chip dump and resort to anarchy if they cannot.

By the way, I've found my credentials for 2 offshore sportsbooks in user dumps on the Internet in the recent past. Change your password often and don't keep using the same passwords across sites.

Also, realize that a lot of these books allow you to log in using the account number they give you OR your email address as the username - whichever you prefer. So if you''re reusing logins across sites and, let's say, the Chipotle Rewards user database gets hacked, someone could run your login through a script that tries hundreds of websites until it finds a login that works.

Not all the offshore gamblers in U.S are registered to SBR and post lol

In fact my guess is less than 1%.
Let me rephrase, the better question is why does this almost NEVER happen to regular posters at SBR? 99% of the time it’s first time posters. I’m not saying it can’t happen at 5Dimes, surely it can and has. It happens often at Betonline and I’d say a majority of players get reimbursed. That screams rogue employee or soft target. We’ll know soon enough, if thread disappears it was a scam, if OP gets reimbursed, hopefully he will let us know.

This newswire is an oldie but still relevant today. Strong passwords, PC, and network best practices avoid most all of these claims. We've asked for comment on any irregularities but in cases like these, it's generally only good faith that might see a player credited. We will be in touch with you via email if we are able to learn more on your situation.

For the record, this happened to me recently. Not at 5Dimes, but at another SBR well-rated book. This book practices 2FA for withdrawals and does not offer poker for chip dumping, so whoever did it just lost all my available funds to the casino for whatever reason. The sportsbook couldn't have been more courteous and attentive to the problem. They never gave even a hint of suspicion towards me, and they credited my account back as soon as the casino software provider gave them the IP address, which matched a strange IP address they also saw in their logs.

I've always followed the 5 security recommendations highlighted in @SBR Forum's link in the post above.. Coincidentally, this book happens to be one of the books which I mentioned upthread, where I found my credentials in a user dump from their database on the web. I had since changed my password, so they got into my account through some other leak or via a different type of hack.

We spoke with 5Dimes management.

Kind of lame that the title of this thread was changed to "Transfer" instead of "Theft". The OP's funds were taken w/o his permission regardless of who was at fault. Perhaps "5 Dimes Account Hacked" would be a good compromise to describe what apparently happened here.

Agreed! The title was correct. His use of the pronoun "they" in his first sentence of the original post is what should be clarified.

SBR does a lot of good for this community but this type of censorship doesn't feel right.

    Anyways...

I'm curious to know how they can state, as a fact, that his e-mail was compromised. Of course this is probable, and maybe likely, but how is this a fact? What evidence did they provide to confirm this fact? Or is this a suspicion based on their experience with similar issues in the past?

    Is this 5dimes position:
1.) A new device attempted to access OP's 5dimes account which prompted an authentication process?
2.) They suspect that his e-mail was also compromised which allowed the new device to receive the secure link & code?

Lastly, how is an e-mail a 2fa? Shouldn't there be a second manner of authentication if they are claiming there is a 2fa process?

I'm genuinely curious about all of the above.
