Why would a book cut my limits after a big loss?

I don't want to name the book, but I made roughly 30k in deposits before I got hot and ran my winnings up to 40k over a 2 month period placing $1,000 to $5,000 bets. I just LOST 9k my last two bets (1 baseball, 1 football) and I was all set to make two more 5k bets today on the baseball game. But when I went to confirm them, it showed my max bet at half of what it used to be. Question is, why would a book limit me after a big loss? Don't they want to get their money back? I'm not a steam chaser and a lot of the lines moved the other way. Doesn't make sense to me..

Were you consistently beating closers by a nice margin? Many times, that is actually more important to books than the actual results.

No not at all. I said I wasn't looking for sharp lines. A couple of the more recent games moved 20 points against my bet. I was on the wrong end of a lot of my bets if anything.

I'm guessing it's Bovada. They do strange stuff with limiting.

Depends on what book I guess but is it possible they limited you simply because of volume / size of bets? I believe this is factored into decisions to limit accounts or certain bet types at some places and something on your account caught their attention, and the decision probably had very little to do with the results of your last two bets.

It's not Bovada Crusherrr. It's the slow one that you play on. D rating on here but not that bad imo. The site format, (formerly) high limits and 30% bonuses made it worthwhile. Even with the slow pay and 3% fee, I always get my money. I still have 2k baseball limits there but they will lose some of my business. I guess that's what they want though..

So here we go...the Yankees were -120 when I woke up this morning. I decided I liked them and got in at -130 at about 10am. Now they're -150 right before game time when the action gets hot. Does that make me a sharp bettor? I don't give a f** what the line does after I take them. Am I supposed to hope the line goes the other way so I don't look sharp? My money is in....why should anybody care? These bookies are crazy. I have no clue what anybody else is doing nor do I care.

People that consistently can beat the closing number are "substantially" more likely to be winning players in the long run. 2-3 bet samples of losing mean nothing but if you are consistently getting the best of it then it usually only a matter of time before you are limited or shown the door.

    Good Luck

You sound like a bettor most books would like on board.

I would not over think it too much. Just a sign they don't like your action for whatever reason. Maybe your avg bet size scares them, despite the limit being higher than your bets were.

Did support email you? We both know contacting them and hearing back is like pulling teeth nowadays. It used to be so easy with the live chat or even email but they don't even reply anymore. I think they are trying to keep themselves recreational friendly and have lowered a lot of peoples withdrawal limits to $2500 instead of $5000 each time. I know several others were also banned or restricted from poker access as well. I've had years where I lost small fortunes to them but this year I've done exceptionally well and have not had my limits cut or limited at all luckily.

Nothing from support, Crusher. And I didn't bother trying to contact them either. It's futile. Their loss...I woulda max bet Yankees and the over last night hahahaha. I lost 3k instead of 9! Lol. So I guess I owe them a thank you. I never had 5k on the wd...always 2,500. I requested that to be upped a while back and they said no. I've got a lot of money tied up there but the timing is ok because baseball is over. I can wait. I'll get it eventually. At $2,500 a week, it will probably take until next baseball season to get it all hahahaha. It would be an A+ site if they would pay us in a day or two instead of a week. They always have that giant 'cancel withdraw' button right in front of your face so they hope you click it by accident. I'm sure you only have to hit that once and then you'll have to start over and wait another week. But they're doing what works for them so I can't blame em. Not as bad a site as they're made out to be..

I agree, I like them a lot. Sometimes they just pick and choose who gets booted who gets limited etc and there isnt always a rhyme or reason to it. For what it's worth they do allow you to put two withdrawals in at a time so hopefully that will get you paid quicker. I'm fortunate to have the $5000 per payout option still.

Thanks for the info on the two wd's. When I read the rules it clearly says only one at a time. I'll give it a try. Looks like my football is back up...says max bet on tonight's game is $7.500 (money line). Gooo Phil!!

That's frustrating. I recently got limited at what I think is the same book. I mostly placed smaller square bets but had one big win. It seems pretty random that I got flagged.

I think it's worth mentioning the name of the book too. Books should be outed for being such pussies. The book I'm talking about is SBGglobal. They used to take good sized bets and not blink an eye, they've also changed their payout policies to slow pay winners. They pay, but they just make you wait or pay a pretty high fee.

I think the industry has room for a couple more offsore books that aren't affraid of pros and know how to handle their risk.

A recent complaint case where the player was not treated fairly and after way too many attempts to get anyone there to discuss it with SBR, they finally only reacted at all when they were told if they didn't explain themselves all we had was the player version which I would suggest to the news editor was published along with an avoid warning.

There is significant reasons to think they are wrong and when these were pointed out SBG said they would do a deeper investigation and consider what they could do for this player.

The only response that ever came back was asking what SBR was going to say on the news wire. And then on ignore again.

The player does not want it publicized as he still thinks they can't possibly be as unfair as they appear and surely if he keeps at them they will be honorable Otherwise I would be shouting about it. Even this much is probably pushing the limit of what I should say.

Anyway, after dealing with hundreds of books, they are among the bottom of the barrel as far as attitude to player fairness.

Thanks for the info, hope you haven't revealed too much. I appreciate it though as I've used them for years and lately something is really fishy with their limits. Either very quick to cut them or they have changed their attitude towards risk management and have lowered limits to all players... It seems to me like new management who likely has a poor understanding of the industry and basic math.

Because you´re probably betting on a recreative sportsbook, ie Bovada.
