    5Dimes requires verification for payouts

I am not a frequent bettor but have used 5Dimes a few times in the past.

I am trying to process a payout, but 5Dimes is requiring my account password be emailed to them in plain text along with the standard ID scans. This is terrible security. I am sure, as most of you know, any hop along the way that email can be read.

I cannot send a plaintext password. It would be only slightly less risky than simply posting the password in these forums. Have you run into this. How does 5Dimes retain an A+ rating here with a policy like that?

I don't mind the phone verification, or the email verification, or the sending of a license. But sending the account password via email is like giving it to your 10,000 best friends.

That is the procedure there. it's been that way a long time.

If you do not like it, then send the info to withdraw your balance and move on as they won't change it for you.

"Top book" lol. 1994 called and they want their internet account security back.

Seriously, anyone who would trust funds to someone with such lax security measures after being informed of them deserves to lose them.

By giving them what they ask for I am opening my account up to theft by someone other than them.

    1. give password-get money-play elsewhere

    2. don't give them password-lose all your money there-play elsewhere

    seems like a no brainer

I never had a problem giving them my password, but I would rather they did not ask.

so you think someone is going to steal that password and then start asking for bitcoin withdrawals? how are they going to get past the email verification/phone verification?

unless they steal your phone or somehow also have access to your email, it would be tough for someone to steal your balance based only on your 5d password

you are being overly paranoid, i have never once heard of that happening

Bingo. It may be a redundant, unusual, PITA method, but how many 5 Dimes accounts have been hacked into? Rather it be this than the opposite. Get used to the fact they do some things circa 2002 like, that's been well known and documented in this forum.

Or give them the password, and lose all your money, not quite the no brainer.

Do you think you'd get an accounting of the hacks?

It's not a matter of bring rendundant, unuaual, and a PITA. Those things are all well, as you stated, simply a PITA.

The issue here is the amateurish level of security and opening the funds up to theft from anyone along the email chain.

then why isn't the thread titled "amateurish level of security" instead of "5 dimes refuses payout"

if the funds are so open to theft then why hasn't there ever been any theft

Get on live chat and ask for TONY.

    He will square you away.

Make sure you ask for TONY.

Report back and let us know how it goes.

Sounds like you're the one that is refusing to give them what they are requesting of you to complete the payout.

I'm guessing when you sign in from a new to them (5 Dimes) device, that that security level is also a pain?

Agreed that asking for a password is a poor method but its how they operate so you don't have a choice if you want a payout.

The good news is that you can change your password easily enough and without limit. So you could change your password after every withdrawal or any other time you like.

wrong still a no brainer. give them password to complete payout, impossible to lose money from payout. so you can't lose ALL your money.

you are just a pain in the ass. everyone who plays at 5dimes knows this and probably does not like it any more than you do but because they want to play at 5dimes they DO IT. it's time to get over this, move on already, make a decision.

Not that I've noticed. Certainly never been a request to send a plaintext account password unsecured for that.

its horrible security, but thats the way it is. Dont play there in the future if it scares you enough. Hopefully there are enough checks and balances in place despite this. Sadly, a lot of US facing book (most) are just as lackadaisical with their passwords.

not sure why sbr or 5dimes would help you after this... looks like you come back every 2-3 years to whine about something else, giving us all something to look forward to in 2021!

You state facts not in evidence.

I certainly would not deposit at 5Dimes or an SBR sponsored book again after reading this thread.

Because they care about their reputation and those of the books they give A+ ratings to? Perhaps not.

Yea, I was concerned at first. Definitely not the best security measures as many people use one password for everything. New users should be advised to use unique passwords for all of your books.

Nice edit by whoever is in 5Dimes back pocket.

As mentioned, verification is not the issue. Opening a plaintext password up to the net at large is.
