What’s the difference between 5d and bookmaker?

Are there good reasons to have an account on both books?

Bookmaker will rarely have a better line than 5d reduced juice. So you'd only really want Bookmaker if your size is greater than 5d limits or if you cannot wait 48 hours for 5d's btc payouts. Personally, I'd recommend Heritage over either of them.

it's in the people who use one instead of the other.

Definitely. Use 5D for low juice and more variety of bet options. Use Bookmaker for higher limits, decent bonuses and quicker payouts. The two Books are very different, but combined they offer you the best of internet betting. Sign up for both.

I use both but Bookmaker is way better for my purposes. 5Dimes limits are a joke. Also Bookmaker's cryptocurrency support is superior.

I guess it’s a preference really. I have played extensively at both over the years. What it comes down to is - if you want the best line and multiple betting options ANY sport then 5dimes is for you. If you want to avoid jumping through hoops to get paid then BM is for you

It is to your advantage to have as many places to play (aka "outs") as possible. There is no single "best" book. If you are US-based, I can verify that I have been paid by all 5 top-rated US-serving books: 5Dimes, Bookmaker, BetOnline, Bovada, and Heritage.

In general, I would say 5D if you're a casual bettor with the wider variety of props and reduced juice (but you can only max bet $500). However, the website is a bit antiquated and it takes 2 days to get paid usually with their security measures (theirs is more manual where BM and BetOnline's are more automated). Bookmaker is good for those that like high limits and want to get paid quick. They also seem to be better with CC deposits than 5D from my experience. I had little issue with BM where my card kept getting declined on 5D, but have since strictly went with Bitcoin as my deposit/withdraw method. There's also preference to user interface and it's good to have an account with each shop around. Sometimes you'll find a prop bet that pays better on BookMaker than 5D.

You can only bet up to $500 on the "Reduced Juice" lines. $5k on regular lines.

I play on both but I like Bookmaker better because when it comes to payouts they are much faster with Bitcoin withdrawals. 5Dimes eventually gets you your money but you have to go through some security checks first whereas with Bookmaker I've gotten my payout the same day I requested it. That said, 5Dimes is still a very solid book so i guess it depends what you're looking for in a sportsbook.
